I know I have really enjoyed reading everyone else trip reports so I thought I would give it a whirl for myself. First of all let me say How great it was to be back on the Island!! I just wish I was gutsy enough to move down there myself.

I hope this isnt to long and boring!!

Hotel Villablanca - Dive Operater Papa Hoggs

Our dinner plans all week were chosen mostly from the restraunt list provided to everyone by Christi.

Saturday Feb 11
We arrived just after 3pm so not much time to do much so we check into the hotel and checked in with margret at Papa Hoggs. Oh and I started the wife on a steady diet of Margaritas and treated my self to the first of many Sol's. Dinner plans for this first night was Sonora Grill and just like Christi's list said the sonora shrimp was terrific. My wife said the margaritas were strong but tasty. A hard down pour dampened the shopping and sightseeing mission for the evening.

Sunday Feb 12
We awoke to find very windy, cool and wet conditions. I heard some folks call the weather conditions a Norte. But, I thought I must have landed on the wrong island. I was not brave enough to chance the diving so we lounged around for a while and had lunch @ Hogg town cafe. The afternoon was pretty uneventful. I spent most of the day looking out of the window and getting to know my new fround friend Sol. The rain stopped just in time for dinner so were then off to Prima. A wonderful dinner of Steak and Lobster and good margaritas good food but, still a little cool but a very nice dinner.

Monday Feb 13
Again we awoke to some cool weather but I wasnt going to miss another day of diving.
Quick breakfast @ Hoggs and then off to the Harbor to catch the boat. The first dive was at Tormentos (I hope I spelled that right) Nice dive alot of fish. Very cold surface interval The Dive master said they were going to close the Harbor so we did our 2nd Dive at Paradise. although close to the harbor and with alot of boat traffic overhead it was a vey nice dive. Lunch @ Hoggs afternoon of lounging around and then a dinner @ La Mission on 30th. Again a very good dinner and great service and good margaritas and fajitas. Tonight we decided to walk back to the town square. it was a nice walk and we were able to walk off dinner.

Tuesday Feb 14
We awoke to a nice day and we couldnt wait to get into the water. A quick bite @ Hoggs and off to the Harbor. Today we dove Horseshoe they called it the 2nd stage Nice dive alot of nice formations 2nd dive was Dalila awesome dive! 2 eagle rays, 2 turtales and a 4-5' nurse shark. Lunch @ Hoggs lounged at the pool and Dinner @ Casa Dennis. Dinner was great and the Margaritas were lethal!!

Wednesday Feb 15
Nice day quick bite @ Hoggs. We were able to catch the boat at the make shift pier at Hoggs. And off to Palancar caves very good dive 2 turtles and then the 2nd sive were refered to as the sand storm at La Francesca. The current was terrible strong and the sand was horrible!! We were glad that dive was over!! Lunch @ Hoggs and another day of soaking up the rays ansd enjoying my friend Sol. Dinner was @ La Choza, very good dinner and was able to meet some fellow firefighters visiting from California and Mass. We did a little T shirt shopping in town tonight and was able to find some nice new designs.

Thursday Feb 16
Breakfast @ Hoggs and then off to the dives. 1st dive was @ Santa Rosa wall nice shark and alot of lobster on the later part of the dive. 2nd dive was Yucab 2 turtles and more lobster. Both dives today were very good. Lunch @ Hoggs and then to the villablanca Pool. A nice day to nap the day away. Dinner was at Guidos wow what a dinner the lasagna is the best I have ever eaten. The service stunk so they didnt get a tip, and then on to town for more shopping.

Friday Feb 17
Quick Bite @ Hoggs then off to the boats. 1st dive was at the Palancar Bricks alot to see but not much fish 2nd dive was I think El Pasode Cedral this was a good dive. 5' shark eagle ray turtles and alot of lobster! Lunch at Hoggs a nap by the pool and then another night of dinner @ Prima The Cozumel Chicken is wonderful and the Brownie sundae is unbelievable!! A little more bargin shopping and then back to the hotel.

Saturday Feb 18
Breakfast at Hoggs then a trip for the rental car. I decided to stay with a name I know and rented from budget. I was a little nervous of the clunkers running around the island. I decided on a chevrolet tracker and then we were off to the wild east side!! Most of the bars names on this trip are somewhat of a blurr but I do remember coconuts what a view. The drinks were very good the shrimp tacos were good and the waiter was somewhat of a pervert. He kept triing to get my wife to flash for the camera. But, she kept blowing him off and finally he went away She wouldnt let me say anything she wanted to enjoy the view and drinks. After that stop were off to Mescalitos and there wonderful Hammicks. I loved the buckets of beer and I had heard it sometimes becomes R rated there and they were right I would say half of the women there were topless and they were right at the bar. I was quite amused that nobody was down on the nude beach!! Back to town and to dinner at Casa Blanca. Dinner was ok but I wouldnt try them again. A quick walk around the square and we had to try a ice cream cone and back to hotel.

Sunday Feb 19
Breakfast at Papa Hoggs And then it was time to get packed..... It was the dreaded departure day.

All in All I rated this trip a 10 of 10
Hotel Villablanca was as advertised and we ended up with the suite 22 You cant gripe about that.

Papa Hogs was a good operation everyone said Mike was a little gruff and Margret was very nice and everyone was correct.

Hogg Towne Cafe was very good for breakfast and lunch service was great and the convienance was perfect.

I was very pleased with the improvements at the Cozumel Airport. It seems like last time I was there it seemed dirty and old. Completely different this time!!

I dont know if this is normal but I have spent time today searching for good deals for my next trip and I just got home last night. We did have a little rude awakening we arrived in Arkansas with 2 inches of Ice and 5 inches of snow. The Temp was 10 degrees that was a 75 degree swing in 5 hours the worst part was we were still wearing our shorts.... I hope this wasnt to borring.

Thanks, heading down on May 1

Nice update! That is another log on my fire...Will be in Coz end O' March.
Thinking about a dive plan for the 10 day trip. With the help of all recent SB feedback, I hope to avoid the avoidable and appreciate the rest!
