That's a great comparo! We've considered trying the VdM, but I think I'd miss the bigger pool area and the shore dives/snorkeling/swimming off the pier at CB. We did check out the rooms once and they did look like a step up from CB. I guess you really can't go too wrong either place.

I agree, you really can't go wrong with either place. Also, with new owners at CB, it may also be in store for upgrades....I have already heard that there are now fridges in ALL rooms...that is a start. Have a great time ! SS

Thanks for the report. I'm staying at VdM starting next Weds. Good to hear nice things about the place! Did you have to pay extra for the breakfast?

Thanks Sue!! Hadn't thought to check my Continental links ... I may have to give it a look-see for any other deals ... otherwise, I'll let you know how it goes in March at the Fontan!! And maybe we'll end up in Coz at the same time one of these days, it would be great fun to catch a dinner with you (and drag Alison & Christi with us!!):D

Oh yea Kat, it would be fun to meet up in Coz for dinner, too bad we don't live closer together so we might meet up sooner :crazyeye: Also, definetly let us know what you think of the Fontan. It may be a future option. SS

Breakfast is included in the room rate! Coffee, juice, rolls/pastries, jelly, butter. Just enough to get a start on the day. You just need to let them know what time in the AM you would like it delivered to the room. Sometimes they called ahead to make sure we were awake, other times they just knocked on the door. They promptly arrived every AM @ 7:00 as we requested. We tipped the server every day for his service. Have a wonderful time ! SS

Just to have coffee early in the morning will be a great. Last time I was at Carirbe Blu I had to go down the street and sneek in a fellow hotel lobby to get my first cup of coffee. Some things require desperate measures:cool2:

Oh you do live on the wild side ;). The coffee was good..they also serve non-dairy creamers/sugar/sug sub as well. The tray is set up very nicely. Enjoy !!

Glad to see VDM lives up to it's reviews. We're going to Coz in Feb. during Carnival and had narrowed our choices to VDM & diving with Christi again or Scubaclub. We were concerned that the partying would go on way too late downtown(past OUR partying time) to get our beauty sleep. Would have been nice to watch the parades from the balcony though. Decided on Scubaclub since we're only there 4 days and for the convenience factor. VDM & Blue XT Sea will likely be our choice next trip.

If you want to get out of the Carnival party crowd you have probably made the right choice your Feb. trip. DH and I were in COZ for the last night of Carnival and it was crazy! Not at all like our New Orleans Mardi Gras, but crazy in a family/festive sort of way ! The view from the VDM balconies would be neat. However, I was told that the price of the rooms go up during Carnival and you have to book them well in advance. It makes sense, since it would be a Prime spot to see the action. Have a fantastic time ! SS

They were a little higher....we were quoted $110/nt for the ocean view balcony and our total cost would have been around $300 less than SCC when you figured in eating out costs & diving. The biggest surprise was the airfare costs from Austin.....they've gone up quite a bit since May. Still a bargain after going to Tahiti in August!

Yes, I would say so a bit less than a Tahiti airfare. And, also, only a 2 hour-ish plane ride :D !!
