No, and I would not.
But I am touching wreck penetration and, next march, will be going for a second stretch of cave diving practise. Nothing below 130 feet.

Next summer, trimix to 150 feet. After that, perfecting and enjoying dives at that level of training for a good while. This level of formation will give me access to plenty of dive sites.

So you've made Tom's point. What's the hurry to get to hypoxic trimix? As far as Great Lakes wrecks, there is just a TON to see within each level ... recreational, advanced nitrox/deco and normoxic trimix. What's the hurry? That's the foundation of my concern about moving to hypoxic trimix after 100 dives. It is just too much too fast. I'm not even comfortable with someone doing normoxic trimix with just 100 dives, but I'm not an instructor nor a training agency. These are just my own personal thoughts on the subject.

My thoughts exactly. Actually, it doesn't sound like I'm too far away from where you are, Belmont, just with about 3x the dives. I'll be doing trimix in the spring. I just can't imagine what the point is for the people who just bang out the classes. I would just be a really boring diver if I hadn't made all the fun dives I've been making for the past few years.

BTW, Jim, I like your sig line. I was thinking yesterday about putting a sign up on my front yard:

"More Taxes! More War! Less Freedom!
Obama/McCain '08: We win either way!"

Tom

Way to go on all the snappy comebacks, people! Seriously, well done.

First off, if the OP only "overheard" this guy say he had 100 dives, isn't it at all possible that this was taken out of context? Maybe he only had 100 dives this year, 100 dives at XYZ Point, or 100 drysuit dives? Without hearing from the guy myself, I'm not prone to put a whole lot of stock into the credibility of it.

I did check after overhearing and yes this was dive number 100 in his log. We were on the boat ride back and it was loud so we did not really get into a real conversation about it. He might have had more dives that were not logged I am not sure. I do know that after my first 100 dives that if I had logged them like a lot of the guys I dove with I would have 200. We would go to the lake after work to train or just dive and maybe do 20 min and sit at the surface and then do 15 and talk some more then do 20 minutes. I would latter see they logged 3 dives while I put it as one long dive. So there could be other things going on I am not sure.
