I need to distribute 8 pounds of ballast to my back plate because I am leg heavy.

I am thinking of adding two 4lbs trim pockets to my tank - one to the right side of the upper cam band, and another to the left side of the lower cam band.
Will this setup balance itself out? In addition, will this setup make me more prone towards rolling to one side? I'm using a X7 HP100 tank.

Thanks for your help.

That should work.

I am using the Scuba MAX straps and I'm able to put an XS Scuba pocket on each side of my top band. That keeps the rig light weight for cleaning and makes it a snap to reconfigure as needed.

It will be fine.

Why not just thread the weights directly onto the camstraps? Cheaper and less chance of losing them.

Great idea, and I had considered that option. However, it's much easier to change/align tanks without the added weights attached to the cam bands. Plus easier to handle during maintenance and storage if I could quickly remove the weights.

Spectrum,

Do the ScubaMax bands come with that annoying Velcro closure flap like those found on Diverite or Halcyon?

It is a Velcro overlap that you set for your tank diameter. The operation is Velcro free. To get away from the Velcro I think you need to get the Scuba Pro straps that these all emulate.

I have that same requirement, and was thinking of using the XS Scuba V Weight Pouch XS Scuba V Weight Pouch reviews and discounts, XS Scuba

Only holds 7 lbs but that should do the job, and the weight will be out of the way and centered on the BP.

I have one by Oxycheq, and I don't like it. If you don't fill it completely full, the lead shots will sag/move/sink to the bottom and thus creating a bulge (sticking out). I can feel it dig in to my lower back when standing vertically. This goes away once you become horizontal in the water as the shots will shift and level out. Also, keep in mind if your plate is more flat (less of a bent angle), this pouch will protrude from the V channel, thus digging into your back.
