I'm a Fish!
hi all

i have some very basic queries. most of the places that i dive are accessible by longggg bus rides (from singapore into malaysia). normally on these trips i carry:

-small day pack: for cameras, food, books, magazines, money, cellphone etc.
-small duffel bag: for my clothes
-dive bag: used to carry dive gear only, usually left on boat.

i have no experience travelling by air with dive gear. im planning a dive trip further abroad in the near future, this would obviously mean i need to modify my packing 'system' right? since most airlines only permit one piece of luggage per person, im gonna need to combine my small duffel (with my clothes) and my dive bag together right? so:

1) do you guys pack your clothes and dive gear in the same bag?
2) what do u do to separate them once on location? leave the bag in the hotel room while you bring the diving stuff in a smaller separate mesh bag?
3) or pack your clothes into a stuff sack which you can just pull out and dump in the hotel room, leaving the main bag with your gear on the boat?

alternatively

1) pack your clothes into a large carryon, leaving only the dive stuff in the dive bag

what do you guys normally do when travelling by air?

thanks
