However... Come to think of it... all of my stuff fits on a 6-pack too. I carry SCUBA gear for 2 people.

If you're on a fast boat, you generally equip yourself before departure so you dont need as much luggages.

Why does it have to be so complicated!!!

eggs sackly!

Sorry Pilotfish but it doesn't matter how you rant or who you complain to, the people who do it are going to keep doing it because it makes life easier for THEM.

And on the flip side, I am not going to make my life harder to make your life easier.

It simply comes down to being considerate. My big bag has casued less problem on a dive boat than other people's gear. I have tripped over more gear than people have tripped over my big bag.

Is there a point to this thread? Just curious? Is the underlying point to pick on someone in particular?

Pilotfish,
thanks for bringing this subject up. I have one of those big bags on wheels. I haven't dove off a charter dive boat yet but I am planning on it by the summers end. I now know not to take it with me, and to get a mesh bag. I'm sure my future fellow boat divers will thank you as do I.

Actually I will be diving with my two kids, so I would have shown up with 3 big roller bags. I hesitate to ask what the other divers would have thought of me....:D

It's all a question of judgment. Up north, we nead more gear generally. Boats are used to it, divers are used to it, and no one whines about it unless one truly exagerate. I always bring my rubbermaid container (reasonable size) since I can put wet stuff in it and all is in One place. Some people have mesh bags and leave all their gear at different places on the deck. That's worst IMO.

Mesh bags is for tropical waters only in my case. But of course, some people never dive in cold water.

Agreed! It's soooo much easier to organize gear in a rigid container than it is to struggle with a mesh bag.

Hmmmm...That would fit. An inconsiderate *** is just that, I dont drag my stuff all over the boat. And can't see any reason to be pissed at me for wanting to safely transport, and store my gear. Swaping gear in some diveshop to a mesh bag smacks of missing and forgotten gear to me. I don't need the stress, I want my gear in the same place I packed it.

Out here in SoCal even with our 65 and 85 foot boats, it can get too crowded with all those large bags and pelican cases. I've been using this Akona type of Akona here and on trips for five years now. I just work out of my bag.http://www.akona.com/popup/images/AKB514_full.jpg

And this case for beach/shore dives. https://www.shop.californiadivingcompany.com/categoryNavigationDocument.hg?categoryId=2
I have seen many crews cringe when divers will bring half a dive shop with them on a boat for a three dive trip. Many times I've heard muttered, "Where do they think we're going?"
