Does anyone know where I can go on the net to compare companies that provide travel health insurance? I dont mean DAN or that kind of company.....the ones that have nothing to do with diving.

Thanks all.....my primary concern is for medical coverage.

Hi Rich,

Not sure if this will help, but a couple years ago when my husband and I took my mom to St. Maarten on vacation, I bought our air tickets through Expedia. On a whim, I took out the medical insurance coverage Expedia offered on her (she was 72), it was $75.00. Well, long story short, she became ill in the SJ airport on our way home, spent 6 weeks in a hospital in SJ, and passed away there. The service from this company the entire 6 weeks was absolutely unbelievable (in a good way). It was IGA, who Expedia used. Had it not been for them, it could have been even a worse nightmare. They called the hospital and docs regularly, trying to get her air vaced, (she was too ill to do so) and moved to another hospital. When it came time to "take her home" the mortuary faxed the bill to them when I was in the funeral home, and they paid no questions asked. They also paid what medicare did not. Had they been able to air vac her out, they would have paid that as well.

Sorry you had to find out that way, but thanks for the input, very useful.

\edited.....I did a search for IGA and found nothing. Changed the letters to AIG and found an insurance company. Sure of the letters??
thanks

Hi Rich,

I suspect you are correct. AIG American General is a very large international player in insurance and financial services and in fact underwrites several major name dive accident policies.

Yes, AIG...my dyslexia strikes again! I work with about 70 doctors, and like I said, AIG was unbelievably wonderful during the entire 6 weeks. I even wrote a letter to Expedia and AIG letting them know of what exemplary service they provided during a very distressing time.

Good luck with your search Rich!

Yep. I went with AIG and got a policy on me and my GF and my daughter and her hubby. Both for under $150 with $100 k coverage and 1 mill evac coverage.

thanks all
