I know nothing of AL or Dacor from pre-1989-90 (I do know of Dacor from owning fins, mask, snorkel, Sea Chute BC, and a 960 1st from when I started, and know about Mares destroying them). Anyhow, a shirt-tail relative passed away, and I, being the only diver in the family, was "bestowed" with his stuff.... (note the plumbing fitting on the one second :shocked2:)

I dive "semi-vintage" in that I have numerous SP 109's, MK-5 & MK-10's...

Now I have this, and I am curious if anything might still be worth getting into for fun diving the quarry with:

I'm looking most at the USD grey horse-collar, but it needs a new hose (appears that the leak is there, and not the bag), and I do have the hard-pack for it too. The others appear to be novelties for the wall, though functional.....

Anything in the regulators? What are they?

The Dacor firsts are "Olympic" "Balanced".. With the exception of the Calypso, there are no markings on the Al stuff....

Other thoughts?

Pictures 4, 5 and 6 look like Dacor Olympic 400 first and second stages.

Picture number 8 is a US Divers Deep Star. It's actually not a bad reg and it's a basic flow by piston design like the slightly later Scubapro Mk 2 and 3. It's not a high performer but reliable and easy to service. They made a Deep Star II and it is a real POS but looks like a tomato can, so I guess that's something.

I am not sure on parts availability for the Dacor regs, but you should be able to find generic seats for the Deepstar and the o-rings are standard sizes.

The first 2 BCs are really more like snorkeling vests, but the grey one is fine. Triple check the bladder as they do develop cracks and leak. Up until a few years ago I knew there were still some new bladders out there, and you may still be able to find one if yours goes bad, just be aware there at least 3 different bladder styles used in that type of BC.

I have inflator hoses for it, and I may have a corrugated hose for it, I'll check if you can't find one locally.

The gray USD horse collar is kind of cool if the bladder is still secure. I have a bunch of similar models and they are hind of fun once in a while.

The Dacors are Olympic 400s (same as the 800 minus an internal J valve). They are balanced diaphgram regs. Part are hard to come by but you can likely get it going if you with a little work.

Most of those USD horse collars had major problems around the fitting, the plastic get very brittle and crunchy. I have a replacement hose I think is good if you need the hose/mouthpiece.
