TommyD Sports Quality?

Up until now I've done all my diving needing only a shorty. I'm looking at expanding my horizons and needing to get gloves, a hood, and full wetsuit. I'm not planning on doing a lot of diving but need protection to about 60-65 degrees. While looking online, I noticed wetsuits gloves and hoods from TommyD Sports. The hoods and gloves were in a camo pattern and I got to wondering if these were really suited to diving or would I be dissatisfied with them? Since I'm not a hunter, I didn't know if there was neoprene being used for hunting gear or was this just an odd order out of China that someone was trying to sell to divers at a mark up.

Has anyone used their gear in the past and how did it perform?

I have two wetsuits from TommyDSports and two pairs of boots. I'm wearing one of the wetsuits in my avatar/profile pic. I bought that suit when I was a bit bigger and I had lost weight when the pic was taken. I have since bought another like it in a smaller size. They're very good quality for the price. I had a couple of issues with a BC I purchased from them but was able to resolve them.

They have a line of regs too. They are very inexpensive, so I wonder about they're quality, as well. Anyone have experience with the regs?

I've bought several items from Tommy D. They, like most gear, were made in China, VIetnam, Singapore, etc. in which case the only thing you can look at is the price. Most of their stuff is so comparatively inexpensive that you can return them for another size without approaching the unreasonable price that a LDS has to charge to stay in business. As far as I can see, when it comes to wetsuits, the only difference in one from the othere is the logo on them or the material they are made from.

I bought a 3mm shorty from TommyD a few months ago. As a newbie and likely vacation-only diver, I was looking for a good price and not really expecting or needing top-quality gear. I know very little about wetsuit quality, so I can only say that it held up nicely during my week of 10 or so dives.

From a customer service perspective, I was *very* pleased with TommyD. I am a hard-to-fit plus size (were it not so, I would have been patronizing my LDS), so before I ordered, I called them up to ask about their return policy. The gentleman I spoke with was very helpful and agreed to make an exception to their usual policy and let me buy several wetsuits, keep the one that fit best, and return the rest for a full refund. He even helped me pick a few styles and sizes to try.

I too have been happy with TommyD sports. The fins I bought from them have held up better than the ones from my LDS. Be aware, however that their sizes tend to be a bit small. (For the fins.) I bought some S-M fins, #1230 blue. My shoe size is 8W. They fit me fine with the insert removed for my wetsuit boots, but not with my drysuit built in boots. (Moby drysuit.) I also bought a thin wetsuit that is very soft and comfortable. (Either 1mm or 3mm, #8802.) It works great for snorkeling or as an undergarment for my drysuit. I'm 5'9", 197 pounds and this suit is a XL.
