I have both, live in NC, and dive weekly. I now use my splits for practically every dive. I get the same propulsion, actually a little more speed, with less effort. Used to cramp on the 3rd dive...now....it never happens. I have no trouble in current. I'm using the Atomic Aquatics Smokes and they are superb. Since I dive offshore and in deep water, I find the current is different at different levels of the dive and of course you have to consider the tide state.
First time I used the splits I thought it felt really strange....now I'm hooked.

Good Luck. Roadtrip

I dive both types of fins. But I have noticed that on the dives with the "paddle" fins", I come up the boat ladder a bit slower with less energy.
