I am considering a gear up with Dive Rites product except the back plate, either Fred T or Hammerhead.

What’s Dive Rite’s manufacture warranty? I can’t find any warranty information on their website.

BTW, in reality, is there any warranty issue with Dive Rite setup or any brand BP/W?
The gear is a really simple and solid so that I guess there will hardly be the repair problems except the wing.

Harness: it is a consuming part, wear and tear.
D-ring: almost forever except few rust
Back plate: almost forever except few rust
Cam band: possible buckle break.
Transpac II: probably wear and tear over time.
Wing: possible leak and valve problem. It will be major concerns.

Whatelse? Any comment?

I have three bp/wings; two plastic DR plates and with two 40 lb wings for diving singles and a SS DR BP and Classic wing for diving doubles.

I have had the good fortune to dive with this gear for years with these setups and when they get really old you might have to replace the inflator hose when if it starts to dryrot. Have never had a punture or leak. Maybe I'm just lucky. But I can't say that about my drysuits. Thank goodness for Aqua Seal.

If your waist changes or you wear out the harness go to some place like Hobby Lobby and pick you up a 20 foot roll of 2 inch webbing.

I've had 2 DiveRite Venture wings for about 5 months now - 30 dives on the one, the other is my "loaner" and it has about 15 on it. I do not have any warranty on them (purchased online) but am not worried, because parts for DiveRite are very readily available - so if something does break (which has not happened yet) I'll just replace that part - hose, bladder, bag, inflators, etc.. all available easily. And pretty inexpensive also.

From the reading I did before purchasing (mostly here on SB - lots of opinions on gear) I got the impression that any of the major wing manufacturers deliver a good quality product. Oxycheq, Halcyon, DiveRite, Deepsea supply, etc..

Aloha, Tim

I've owned various DR products, and the only time I needed service was on a backup light ... they replaced it no problem.

I was also affilliated with an LDS that was a Dive Rite dealer, and their customer support on all their products was excellent.

That is for my buddy, my girl. You know, the one of advantage in BP/W set up is the flexibility to detach, switch, or share the wings.

MSilvia:
If you're getting a backplate, why do you need a Transpac II also?

My wife and I both have DR TP II's (bought pre-owned), and ability to reconfigure / switch wings works well for us. We have 5 wing sets between the 2 of us. FYI, the market for S & XS size stuff is pretty limited, so finding a XS pre-owned set for my better half saved a bundle!

If you'd rather a traditional harness to the tp, but want the adjustability for multiple users you might check out post #28 on this thread for an idea http://www.scubaboard.com/t86180-.html

Just another thought is all...

Aloha, Tim
