Since this model had good comments in my other post....OCEANIC DELTA 4 REGULATOR D.V.T

I am curious as to how you feel about the AL Titan LX.

I know most hate what the dealers do with AL prices but I am curious to see how they match up

The Titan LX is a solid performer, but right out the gate, if I'm not mistaken the Delta 4 is environmentally sealed and the Titan LX isn't. (someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Of course you mentioned AL's price controls. I wouldn't pay full list price for any AL reg and any dealer that makes you is not worthy either.

I dont remember the page link, but someone sent me an "Undercurrent" article saying that the Delta IV is the ONLY reg NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association) reccomends for any of its divers.

I think it was in the July issue last year.

i did some price checking with LDS, Leisure Pro, and Scuba toys. The Deltas cost as much as the Titan LX's full price. So even if I refused the AL prices, I am still paying high price for the other reg. I know the oceanic is not at msrp price, its still at the sale price on the high side. Hmmm, what to do?

NOAA replaced all its Scubapro regs recently with the Delta IV

from http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/oceanic/225191-delta-4-new-cold-water-reg.html

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced its new regulator pick. In the June issue of Undercurrent, we wrote about NOAA's new rules and regulations for government divers in response to the death of two Coast Guard divers in Alaska last summer. One major change was giving the boot to all regulators Coast Guard divers had previously used for cold-water diving. After testing of multiple regulators, NOAA found Oceanic's Delta IV to be the most reliable.

"It consistently came up first for meeting all our criteria, and it won't freeze up in cold water," says Lieutenant Eric Johnson of the NOAA Diving Program. The Delta IV is an environmentally sealed diaphragm regulator and its first stage has Oceanic's Dry Valve Technology, designed to stop moisture and contaminants from entering and to prevent corrosion of internal components. NOAA bought 350 of the regulators and now requires its 500 divers to use that model when diving in water temperatures of 50 degrees or less. Johnson says the Navy's experimental dive unit is using them, too. The Delta IV is also commercially available for sport divers; Oceanic's suggested price is $570

But are you comparing apples to apples when you say the Delta 4 cost as much as the Titan LX 'full price' ?

The Titan LX is a good reg, but it's not Aqualung's 'high end' regulator. It's their mid-level regulator.

The Delta IV is Oceanics high end regulator. In comparison to Aqualung, you'd want to compare it to the AL Legend LX.

For the Titan LX, compare it to Oceanics GT3 perhaps.

I've got the Delta IV and really like it. DVT, 2nd stage swivel, enviro sealed, all great features. Plus you can tune the breathing effort to your liking.

I bought mine from Scuba Toys - call and talk to them on pricing, they were very good to me!

Your are correct! I guess I am trying figure if the Titan is the way. So I was trying to look at prices not quality. But still is the LX a better build and quality than the delta? Regaurdless of what rank the company puts them in

Everyone tells they use it for coldwater. I live Tampabay, fl, so I am a tropical diver only, maybe a few 70 degree springs, but mostly southern tropical for me

The Titan LX is not enviro sealed. I had mine sealed for an additional 75. If I would have bought the Tital LX supreme (includes enviro sealed) new it would have only been 20. more. I can blame my LDS for that one.
