Hey guys-
I placed an order for an AquaLung Titan LX- but apparently my dive shop tells me they are re-producing new versions of it, which will cost $70 more. They offered me either the floor model of the current (old) version, or, to get me the Aeris AT 400 Sport w/ DVT instead. I would like some objective opinions on this Reg, and how it compares to the Titan LX. Or, if you think I should wait until the new Titan LX comes out for $70 more.

I appreciate all your help!

Go with the Titan LX. It is a really nice reg. Aeris is similar to Oceanic. As for the DVT I don't trust it. It depends on tank pressure to stay open. It looks very similar to a click top pen. I prefer the Aqua Lung version ACD. It depends on your tightening of the handwheel to open. It seems to be engineered better. However it is not in the Titan LX, but on the Legend.

Are you on Scuba Diving by the same name?

Yeah, same name... You think it's worth the extra $70 to wait for the new version to come out?

Get the Titan LX from the floor and be done with it. I have gotten to use both the new one and I own the older one. The new unit has the same second stage with new graphics and a somewhat smaller first stage. I also got to use the new little Mircon.

For the Titan LX, I think I prefer the original first stage but for a travel unit the new version might be nice, as I said, the first stage is somewhat smaller. I could see no difference in breathing effort.

huh. That's great to know. They apparently have incorporated something similar to a Aeris DVT system into the new model. If you go on their website, the new model and info is up now. Considering that, you still feel that's not worth the extra $70? Don't get me wrong, I'd LOVE to save $70 and get me a Dive Light or something else. However, I also am a sucker for the newest/sexiest/prettiest toys...

Then get the new one, I paid 179 for my Titan LX new from LP a few months ago and before that got another new in the box on eBay for less.

Tell the truth I did not notice that the new Titan LX has DVT. I don't consider that with much value, a cap works just fine. My wife has that DVT on her Legend, yawn.

lol- ok, that helps. Everyone's told me to make sure to buy the Reg from a LDS and NOT online. You didn't have a problem doing that? I hear LP doesn't honor the manufacturer's warranty- so that was a concern.

Aqua Lung doe not warranty anything sold online. If you want the free annual replacement parts get it from a brick and morter. The "catch" to the free parts is that it must be seen by an Aqua Lung certified tech at least every 12 months from your purchase date.

OOOH Didn't know that. So is that a lifetime guarantee on those annual replacement parts? Or is there a time limit?

Lifetime. I have seen some Aqua Lung regs that were 15-20 years old get free parts every year.
I worked in a dive shop and that was one point I always mentioned, although 80% of people did not listen.
