focus on work...I was hoping for something more fun...
Read some books and develop some new opinions?

I went for 5 years once without getting in the water. I was certified while I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. When I came back to the states I was stationed in West Texas, no where near any water so I sold all me gear and didn't dive again until I took a job in Saudi Arabia. I was working Jeddah which was right on the Red Sea. There wasn't much else to do over there but dive so I got back into it and went all the way from Advanced to DM while I was there. I moved to Florida when I got back to the states that time and have been diving ever since. I might miss a month or two because of the weather or work but I start to get the itch after being out of the water that long and I just have to get wet.

Find other pursuits and interests.

If your abstinence is caused by health issues, then work to improve your general fitness. If your abstinence is caused by location or budgetary issues, then try harder to find ways and places to get wet.

Isn't there plenty of diving in the Nile? That is where you live, right?

It's been 6 months, 15 days since I went diving last... will likely be another 6 months before I can go again.

How long has been YOUR longest stretch w/out diving? What did you do instead?

I'm going nuts......

My longest stretch without diving? 42 yrs 3 months. Before I took the first class :eyebrow:

Now, don't like to miss a chance, ;)

Hope you can get back to it soon,
Jeff

2 months since i first got cert'ed (feb), 7 since then (sept), now my soonest will be in december... if my newborn allows me to disappear for the weekend... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

yes i'm going nuts too!!!

what do i do? sadly read scuba magazines... wish i was on a liveaboard in some caribean or asian paradise... pretend that i'm breathing through a reg while driving (actually sitting) through traffic... sigh... talk about a sad existence being out of the water...

12 months. Gaa! I shopped for new gear and fixed everything that was broke on mine, then rigged it up a few times and re-did my attachments and hose routings. And, I 'dove' in the pool once or twice.
12 months must suck big time for a tech diver (sensing from your alias)... i imagine you got this closet full of expensive gear that's just sitting there doing absolutely nothing... and it's not like all the stuff you need is readily available for rentals in your nearby creek dive center

feel for you bro...

According to my logbook I did my last dive on the 14th June this year.

Reasons for absence (in order):

Re-occuring ear infection (which I now hopefully have beaten)
Part Time Job (my first one)
And right now...Final Exams at High School

I'm hoping for a 'comeback' after my exam in Novemeber..can't wait

This is my longest dry spell yet and I've been dealing pretty good with it, i remember my first once (due to ear-infection), i was totally restless etc

How I dealt with it? I've avoided scuba boards :)

Basically I just concentrated on other things like others have said before.

It's funny, my dive tub still sits in the middle of my room...ready to go (all in working order of course..i hope...:))

I actually wrote a story about scuba diving in my English exam today, hope it turns out good

All the best
