tips for abstinence?

well, how much does this suck!

I went to florida for my first dive in a verrry long time. I had no school on Friday, so I figured I would leave thursday, get int he water on friday, and don't ascend until saturday. Take Sunday to vent the litte RNi I have, and fly back to Baltimore.

Well, the first day it rained, ok no problem. But then we got smacked with a small watercraft warning.... can't go.

then firday Night, the shop calls me up and says, "Tomorrow is going to be VERY windy, you are going to be embolizing with the surge." wow- the killer bullet. I decide, "Oh god, well I need to get home Saturday so I can at least SALVAGE a PART of my weekend, so I pay an extra 70$ to flyu home a day early. Well, I get home and guess what!?!? Its COLLEGE NIGHT in all of Fell's Point!!! AHHHHHH!!! I am SURELY not going to sit in some club with drunken frat boy UMD and Baltimore City COmmunity College kids. No way. So what to I do, I sit at home and chill out.

Hey- you can't control the weather. I was really rather stoic about it until Monday.

anyway:

ABSTINENCE DOESN'T WORK! [you gotta get in the water, and when you do] IF YOU ARE GOING WITH A BUDDY, PROTECT YOURSELF [go over hand signals]!!!!!!!

It's been 6 months, 15 days since I went diving last... will likely be another 6 months before I can go again.

How long has been YOUR longest stretch w/out diving? What did you do instead?

I'm going nuts......

Due to cancer, relocation, and a new job, I was dry for 13 months until recently (after averaging 150 dives a year for 7 years).

Never again.

Miracle it didn't culminate in a tri-state shooting spree.

How long has been YOUR longest stretch w/out diving? What did you do instead?

43 days, 7 hours, 22 minutes ... I was rehabbing from knee surgery ...

I dealt with it by watching a boxload of diving videos, planning my next dive vacation, and spending endless hours on ScubaBoard. Oh ... and getting a head start on my Divemaster certification.
