Tritonia diomedea has been seen from San Diego to the Far NoCal zones... but it's a special day when it's found at humble Veteran's Park in Redondo Beach.
It was a delightful night when Ken was able to shoot some portraits!
Behold, BOW ('Branch Of the Week) #594:
Opisthobranch of the Week is Tritonia diomedea
Congratulations, Ken!
It's a gorgeous photo of a nudibranch that has attracted extended scientific interest. Follow the links provided by the web-master, Michael Miller, to learn more about this mollusc's ability to orient itself with respect to strong surge, magnetic fields, and chemical sensors.
And we thought it was just a pretty slug
.
Great find. Superb photo. We are such 'Branch Geeks... I love it!
