I really think it is not the operation ..... you can have a great name and reputation ... but get a bad captian .... one who does not run a tight ship ..... and it can cause ALOT of damage. Like Scubastud's story. A good captain runs a safe dive and makes it fun for everyone.

Their shop, their rules, and don't forget Rutkowski is right there (which maybe why the rule).

Their shop, their rules...
But its nice if those of us -- who happen to think "their rules" are mindless and not well thought out -- to be able to know that information in advance.

FWIW, I occasionally use OD since their boat is larger than most in that vicinity, so they will sometimes go out when other ops are blown out. After all, I don't really care if they put bumper stickers on their own tanks. Otherwise they do a fine job for a cattle boat. :D That one green boat is hard to miss, no?

... and don't forget Rutkowski is right there (which maybe why the rule).
I always thought if there was going to be a set of tanks to be labeled, it should be air tanks. IOW, a tank with a big "Compressed Breathable Air" bumper sticker would tell people that weren't Nitrox certified that a tank was OK to use. Vs. having them assume otherwise. What do I know, I think Nitrox certification should be built into OW training and that all tanks including air tanks should be analyzed. I wonder what Mr. Rutkowski would think about that? (He can't revoke my IANTD certifications, can he?)

Signed, Annonymous :rofl3:

Thanks very much - good info - its good to know there is a source for nitrox in Key Largo

I'm pretty sure Horizon is doing continuous blending so O2 clean tanks aren't a requirement either. I have to say, that's a great deal (for the Keys).

Ocean Divers IMO is a Great Shop. This is just one side of the story.

It's a well known fact among the locals OD will NOT pump premix nitrox into a tank that doesn't have a nitrox wrapper on it. There's no other "side" to this story.

I've lived here in key largo since 1988, and deepstops is correct. ocean divers will not fill any tank that doesnt have a nitrox band around it even with a O2 cleaned visual sticker clearly visible on the tank. at the time i had divers waiting at my dock, so i purchased 2 nitrox bands from OD and taped them onto my tank(100HP steel tanks)(i had been advised to keep stickers to a bare minimum on steel tanks) and removed them after they'd been analyzed!! even the employee filling my tanks was amused with their policy!! iv'e used island ventures ever since,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
