lost = dead :( sorry I was not more clear :(

dead divers as a result of their own actions or that of the dive boat operation?

big difference if you're holding an operator accountable for something a diver(s) have done outside of their control

I dont think it has been decided yet .... let me do a search ...

What they dont say is the Doctor on board was the father of her children who where also on board. :(

I dont find anything about the diver being left behind ... so that could be rumor

When I dove with them 5 years ago ... it was a great experience and I had no issues at all. ;)

I have taken my classes to Ocean Divers since 1998 (approx 4 classes per year). I have never had a bad experience with OD. They have always been extremely professional: boat crews, shop support and air station.

They lost 1 diver this year...my analysis of the fatality...that person never should have been certified, however she did have a C-Card and log book which is all that is required by most all dive operations. There record back to at least 1998 is pristine.

As far as leaving divers in the water...The Captains and Mates are religious about roll calls where each diver must respond to their name (ie not "she's in the head"). These roll calls are conducted and verified before the boat leaves the dock, after the first dive before moving to the next site and before leaving the 2nd site on the way home.

This trashing of OD is very unfounded...I don't know their logic to the tank bands but there is probably some bases for this logic.

But safety for their divers is always their primary concern

My issue with Ocean Divers is the price of a nitrox fill - 2 weeks ago I was quoted $14.00 per, which I think is excessive; my LDS in Miami charges $8 and Jupiter Dive Center is $6 (I think) - with the purchase of a fill card but not much more without. 32 or 36% - it does not effect the price.

I have called OD on numerous occasions to get viz and sea conditions; I've always found them very nice and professional.

But my cattle boat days ended long ago and I woun't use them for trips.

Tech divers can't do ocean

The diver and her husband where both Tech divers ???

I think the part about her being a tech diver is rumor. Every tech diver I know knows how much weight to wear and where the inflater button is. It's sad she died in front of her children but OD didn't cause her death in anyway that I see.

Horizon Divers, $7 for EAN -- just make sure they tag the tank for that.

Very well could be pure rumor ... there where alot of them flying around that evening.

They didn't do roll at all when I was on the boat once, and one of the captain/crew was pretty rude to my party and I during one trip. We haven't been back since.
