What's the big deal?

Actually, it is a big deal IMO.....
Those big wrappers trap water underneath and eventually cause rust on steel tanks and pitting on aluminum tanks.
Additionally, the PSI VIP program states all stickers must be removed for a VIP so you'd have to buy new wrappers every year as well.

Besides, they look stupid.

Their rule, their shop, stupid rule, stupid shop.

The big deal, it's a pain to waste your time.

Just a good thing to know to avoid the shop IMHO - waste of time.

I recently took my tanks to Horizon Divers. $7 nitrox fill for 32%. I pick them up and they filled air :( Appearently someone did not tag the tanks for proper fill and the pretty nitrox VIP stickers were just an exercise. If I didn't have to get off the island and head home I'd have had them drain and fill with what I asked for, but hey... They were referred by a friend and I trust they do good work.

Speaking of which, someone down there at another shop tried to tell me my tanks weren't clean because I didn't have a monsterous gaudy sticker. I don't mind wearing a speedo, but I can put that on and off a lot easier than the silly sticker. :)

Divers Direct (big red dive flag) would not fill my tank with air because it had nitrox in it on the last dive, lot of wasted time .... so dont go there all you gas heads ;)
I just stick with Brenda at Conch :)

Gads...
Another reason to hang around Cave Country , I guess... (sigh)
I haven't EVER seen a shop up here require the Nitrox banding thingies.
The little stickers are just fine.
But then again , Many more tanks are filled down there , So I kind of understand...
(sort of)
Maybe I don't...Wouldn't be the 1st time.

Interesting , up here , almost all the doubles I see don't have the Nitrox wrapping on them.

P.S. Thanks for the heads-up all you Largo-ites !
Us Newbies need to get good info on where to go for fills down there. :D

Nice thing about the Keys, you can't get what you want one place - drive 5 minutes down the road to the next shop.

Ditto, those stickers serve absolutely no purpose except to make the dive shop a few extra bucks every year when you have to replace them. What a joke.

I had a similar problem with OD years ago. I argued my way thru and got the fills, but I also never went back.

Also had a similar problem with World Water Sports. I bought a new tank and since they didn't have Nitrox, I told them not to fill it. Well, since it wasn't going to have air in it, they refused to put a VIP sticker on it. They were shocked when I told them not to worry I'll get it VIPed and filled somewhere else. Since I needed it O2 clean and they couldn't do that, it wasn't an issue anyway.

I do 120 to 140 fills every summer with the northern OD around MM105.I generally drive up,drop off and the tanks get done right then. Also Kenny and Ginger have more personality than any of the other shops ,hands down.

I had similar experience

I think it's because they run 2 boats and 99% of the fills are going to end up on their boat, so they have the boat owner/liability point of view... worried that some knucklehead customer is going to grab a 32%, thinking is "air", and go below MOD...

They run some nice trips, but there are better places to get your fills
