Does someone has any experience with the Three Corners New Empire hotel in Hurghada???
Also any help on finding a suitable divecentre is appreciated. We are planning to go there somewhere in September this year.

Thanks in advance

Ronald

We're going to the empire in August.
Apparently yhe nearest dive centre is 'Dive Lodge' where 5 day dives are £135.
Maybe we can let you know if they're any good.

I have never heard of the Three Corners Empire Hotel but I can recommend Easy Divers and Emperor Divers for diving in Hurghada (both offer free trasnfers to and from your hotel on diving days).

Hey! My husband and I just got back from a nice 2 weeks stay at 'Three Corners Empire Hotel', and we really enjoyed it. The rooms were pretty nice, comfortable beds, bathroom with shower, Sat. TV, mini refrigerators, air conditioning, private balconies... The staff at the hotel was very friendly, and even though they seem honest, we still kept all of our valuables in one of the hotel safes, just in case. The resteraunt food is pretty good, but the drinks cost quite a bit more than they do outside the hotel. :coke: (For a small glass of sprite or coke in the resteraunt it is 5 LE, if you get coke or sprite at the super market outside the hotel, it is about 4.5-5 LE for 1.5 liters) The hotel is about 250 meters from the Beach(so about a 2-3 minute walk). On the way you pass many shops, including a supermarket, and a pharmacy. :scuba: We didn't do any diving while we were there, but we checked into the prices at several places, there is a shop on the way to the beach, it's right on the corner before the supermarket. You will notice a lot of t-shirts, and some snorkeling masks in the window. The shop owner's name is Nagar(He's a native there) He is a very good person, and can set up diving trips at very good prices. We also have another friend from Hurghada, he has the best prices of anybody we ever met in Hurghada. He can set up diving, jeep safaris, trips to Luxor or Cairo, snorkeling, and many other excursions for less than half what other people charge. If you want information about him, just contact us and we can give you more details. We went with him to Luxor, on a jeep safari, and snorkeling. His trips are just as nice, if not better than those planned by travel agencies. He is a very good person to know. There is coral reef within swimming distance of the beach, and it is the private beach of Three Corner's Empire Hotel, so even if you don't go diving everyday, you may want to take snorkeling equipment(Or you can buy it at good prices from Nagar). There is a lot more we could tell you about Hurghada, Egypt and Three Corner's Empire, but we don't know what you would like to know. So if you have any questions, just let us know..we probably have an answer. Egypt really is great, we haven't met anybody who didn't absolutely love it there. The prices are also really great, there are a few things you may need to know about bargaining, if you're interested let us know. Have a nice trip!
One last thing..I'm sure you're heard this before, but don't drink the water unless it is bottled, this also applys to ice in drinks. We recomend you take a submergion heater to boil water even for brushing your teeth. If not, you will end up in bed for a couple days, with something referred to as Pharoes Revenge.

Just booked a week at this place including diving. I am going with a newly qualified PADI OW diver and he's going to do the AOW and then join me later in the week for some fun diving.

Glad to hear it's not a bad place and appreciate the advice about the taxis and buses. It will be my first trip to Egypt so at least I know what to expect.

I go on the 11/7, so I'll post and let you know what I think.

Anio³ once bubbled...
The staff at the hotel was very friendly, and even though they seem honest, we still kept all of our valuables in one of the hotel safes, just in case.

In Egypt they still use good old "Hamorabi's Law", meaning that the normal panishment for stilling is cutting the arm off.....
:beheaded:
When we are in Dahab we leave evry thing in the rooms, including passports and money and we never had problems.
Also it's safe to leave the grear laying on the shore. The only people who toch stuff is tourists. Never the locals.

Wow, you are going to a lovely place.

I went there a couple of years ago as a real spur of the moment thing late January, when I was fed up with the miserable weather here. Had the most amazing time and discovered scuba diving there. Not a bad place to start!

What was meant to be a try dive turned out to be four dives over a couple of days and we were hooked!

The first dive we did was in an area known as the aquarium, for reasons that became obvious, and was a truly awe inspiring experience. I can't remember the name of the other dive sites that we visited, however do remember the fish and incredible pillars of coral festooned with shoals of surrounding fish.

Well, I hope your trip is as inspiring as mine was. I look forward to hearing more about it when you return.
