Was trying to take a close up of this little guy ~ 7cm long and wasn't keeping good track where its tentacles were going and ......... Yaowwwza, I got hit by one of the little red stinging cells on my hand. It really smarted.:11: Can't imagine what it would be like to get tangled up in all its stringy apendages.

Stay clear of these guys!

Holy cow! hope the pain goes away soon. Thanks for the pic, 7cm long is not very big and harder to keep track of so one can stay well away from it.

Very nice shot!

Great photo, looks like it was worth the sting.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, calypsonick. Hope you had some vinegar onboard to help neutralize the sting!

Nice! Its important for science for people to get stung by various animals, so we all know what's its like. Its seems like you really connected with the little guy. He probably doesn't share his nematocysts with just anyone.

Did you find out what its common name or species is?

I did my part when I snorkeled through a massive sludge of thimble jellyfish in Cozumel. Didn't feel a thing except for a slight sting whenever they touched my lips.

Looks like a siphonophore. Don't recognize the genus. However you can see the prominent cnidocyte clusters in the trailing capture tentacle.

I see stuff like that, I move away.

Scubakevdm:
Siponophorus Stungdaguyus

You didn't lower-case the species name.
