Kimber: "I had an amazing time today! I was moved (almost to tears) by all the support that I received as I was coming up to and crossing the finish line! EVERYBODY came to cheer me on as Deb Cool announced over the loudspeaker that I was going to be finishing in a few minutes!

An email that I received this week about a scholarship I had applied for. I had to write an essay... it was entitled "My Brain Injury Can't Stop Me" -
( Going back to school, I'm looking at getting a degree in social work or rehab counselling. I am not sure at this point what direction exactly I want to go, but I have some time still to figure it out)
"Hello Kimber,
On behalf of the San Diego Brain Injury Foundation's Board, I am pleased to officially announce that you are the first recipient of the SDBIF's first scholarship award! It will also be announced in the upcoming newsletter and I would also love to tell the ABI students the next time I see you at Announcements. The Board voted unanimously to award you the scholarship and were touched by your story and impressed by your accomplishments and perseverance. The check will be given to you once you officially register for classes at Miracosta, which will be sometime in August, I assume?
In any case, congratulations from all of us!
