Some kids with a net snagged a cash register. It got free of the net before theycould land it. They called the cops and the cops called us to find it. I went in, the viz was not at all. Feeling along the bottom I found a fishing rod..cool. then I smacked something with my face. The cash register! I hauled everything up and handed it to the coppers and went back to searching the bottom. When we got out the the cops had left with my loot....I understand the cash register but I really don't think the fishing rod was evidence in the string of cash regiater thefts.

I've found an antique bottle, a morphine ampule, an old knife, tons of lead, a snorkel, An outboard motor, about 20 anchors, a fishing rod, a coal barge that someone must have sunk for insurance, a 55 gallon drum, and a pile of scrap metal.

I dive mainly wrecks but do not remove any part of the ship. That said I have found upwards of 6 dive lights 10 anchors 100 down rigger balls lures gallore. I once found a suitcase full of belongings, nothing valuble but fun to snoop thru and wonder how it got there.

I like to dive a lake here in wa state and in one dive i found 2 guns!! one of them was no good and the other with some elbow grease works great. had the numbers run by local pd both came back clean. also found numerous antique jars and bottles that date back to 20s.

I found a tire iron once...

And too many fishing tackles to count. Which my friend sold back to fishermen at the local wharf. :D

I too have found things in Destin. (and Pensacola.)

My daughter is using a dive knife I picked up by miss louise. It was encrusted with calcium. Muriatic acid brought it back to a shiny stainless steel.

golf balls have been found , aerobees have been found ,at least three. they sink unlike frisbees.

Among The best things was under the destin bridge. I saw a small corner of money colored green under a rock and pulled out a light green wad of fibrous material. when unfolded, it was a very tattered $50 bill almost complete.

On a Pensacola dive, another person on the dive boat had borrowed a speargun of mine and lost it tangled in his weightbelt.
With knowledge fron the captain about where he bobbed to the surface, I did a S&R dive for the 2nd dive that day. Using a dive reel attached to the anchor line 2/3 way down, and a fan shaped search pattern, I recovered said speargun, the weightbelt , and found a perfect condit Penn rod and reel later seen sold for $134 for reel and $65 for rod.

Of course, anchors , lines and fishing wts. are common.

hot dog wrapper, beer cans, broke fishing pole, bandana. Once I was just messing around i found a set of weights that were being used in a search and recovery class, I surfaced and gave away where they were. i don't think they were too happy with that. but oh well i didn't know they were doing a class.

Rhode Island and New England:

Common finds:

20 lbs of weights
1 retractable gear clip
1 Fin
3 dive knives
1 dive light
Countless golf balls

Close to 500 dollars between all my dives so far in bills and coins. I like to dive swim areas at beaches when they close at night :)

Odd Finds:

1 medical Skelton stolen from the local college as a Halloween prank. Found at 30 feet doing my open water dry suit cert dive. Swimming along bottom only to look and see what looked like a real Skelton with torn cloths on and crabs crawling on it. It took me a few seconds to gain my thoughts and stop my self from torpedoing to the surface in horror. I went back down and saw the screws holding the limbs on and found in the skull a tag that said property of xyz college medical lab. The skeleton was reported and surfaced by the police and from what I hear returned to the school.

PA:

Willow Springs Quarry: Found a brand new surgical scissor and 5 lbs of weight

Odd Finds:

Dove Rocky Springs an old defunct amusement park and found the brass rings from the old merry go round that you would grab as it went around and through them into an object. Found a rare PA railroad coin, a 22 short spent shell from the old target range, a bunch of whistle soda pop bottles and a few golf balls.
