I had lunch with the author this week. While he and his wife were both charming and full of interesting stories and such, I sort of expected him to wear a fedora and carry a bullwhip....

I'm going to guess Palmeras. Close to the pier to offload the daily catch... I have the book just no time to read it. I'll read it eventually.
Palmeras (formerly Las Palmeras) was my first guess as well.
