Cave explorerers Jarrod Jablonski and Casey McKinlay will do a presentation about recent expeditions in south China during which they surveyed and connected several sinkholes.

This is exploration shown and explained as it really is, poor cave visibility and all. If you have the heart and spirit of a true explorer you won't want to miss this.

The meeting is open to the public and will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Tropical Acres Restaurant, 2500 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312. Price of admission is $32.00 and includes a prime rib or Salmon dinner. Social hour and cash bar begin at 5:30 PM. Advance reservation and payment are required. Please specify your choice of prime rib or fish.

Bump.

Just a reminder for folks like myself who intend to go and forget to reserve a spot.

A little more information taken from a recent club email for those who may be interested ....

Casey McKinlay, FN 08 & Jarrod Jablonski, FN 08 will speak on their recent expedition to China: Exploring the Flooded Cave Systems of San Men Hai, Guangxi Province, China.

At the invitation of the Chinese Government, the multi-national Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) team, including Explorers Club Fellows Jarrod Jablonski, Casey McKinlay and Australian Explorers Club Chapter member Steve Trewavas, recently completed its 4th expedition to the remote karst region of South Central China.

The mission: to explore, map and unlock the underwater mysteries of San Men Hai, located within the massive Fengshan Karst National Geo-Park.

The mysterious underwater rivers, world renowned dry caves and breathtaking pinnacle karst landscape presented formidable logistical challenges for the GUE team as they worked to physically connect the massive, flooded underwater cave systems, map the flooded chambers and gather water quality and water flow data in an effort to support the Chinese government's pursuit of UNESCO world heritage site designation in addition to baseline measurements necessary for future protection of these unique and vulnerable natural resources.

Thanks for this invite. Mike will be attending, along with two of his cave diving buddies.

Glad to hear that. I think it will be an interesting evening and the foods not bad either

Just a reminder for those who wish to attend, tomorrow is the last day for reservations.

Hi Joe,

is there still space available? Can I bring a few more friends?

Looking forward to it.
