The Pit is a giant sink hole in the Dos Ojos park in Mexico. It's a huge vertical drop and has the deepest known cave entrance in the area at 120m. At 27 metres there's a spectacular 'cloud' of hydrogen sulphate.

It's a tough journey in to get there then a harrowing 9 metre drop into the water, but once you're in it's truly an amazing dive.

This is a film I shot last week for a client, in The Pit.

It's recommended in HD if you have the bandwidth.

Oh thank you :D

I shoot on a Canon 5d mk II and the Sigma 15mm f/2.8.

I use what is now proving to be a bomb-proof Aquatica housing with three LED lights, at around 5-600 lumens each.

I used to cut on Final Cut, but have just switched over to Premier Pro CS5 after one of my clients swapped me a copy for some footage I had of his dive.

Underwater and for the most parts I shoot at 640 and 2500 ISO, 1/30th at 30fps. Some of the really dark parts I have to up it to 6400, at which point I need to start accepting the noise level.

I keep the WB on auto and don't worry about it too much, topside I WB in post.

Thanks for your comment!

Was it a challenge getting your rig in the water given the difficult entry? I'm planning to go there over labor day weekend. I dove the Barbie and Bat Cave line a couple years ago.

The Barbie Line and the Bat Cave are both in Dos Ojos. Both great dives. The Pit is a bit more demanding.

There is a block and pulley there, I tied off my rig and lowered it down, then jumped in. Have a sensitive soul on the top when you come back out to pull it back up again.

Good luck, it's a great dive!
