PPCO2 will be raising until it hits the plateau and PPO2 will be dropping.

So the fraction of N2 and therefore the partial pressure in the lungs at depth remains the same (or actually increases since the Respiratory Quotient is less than 1). In other words, on-gassing of inert gas.

Some studies also claim higher chance of pulmonary shunts and more N2 getting into the arteries.

Thanks all!! In the end, we did freediving first (but I didn't pass!)
And one day of snorkeling then 7 days of scuba lol and hop on the plane the next day (>18hours)
The cenotes are SO BEAUTIFUL I AM COMING BACK
