Hey Ken great shots the ones I seen anyway. Am I the only one that can't get all your pictures to appear?

John, try right-clicking on the red X and select "show picture".
As for Vet's, big change tonight. It was the worst conditions I have ever attempted to dive in. When Jeff, Merry and I arrived in was windy with 2-3 footers. As we walked across the sand in full gear the waves were suddenly 6-8 feet. I struggled, but eventually made it past the surf zone, although there was still surf beyond the canyon. Merry aborted and Jeff never made it past the surf so I quickly kicked back in. Merry even had the Lifeguards come over and check her out. It was a harrowing experience. To make matters even more fun, my strobe flooded. :(

Oh man. 'dette and I have gone out there in 2-3, only to surface an hour later into the monstahs. I can't believe you had to go through that TWICE. Glad you're OK.

Stinks about the strobe. I'm serious about the viz - it was really bad last night at all depths. Do we know if the OCal DIR crew got in and out OK tonight?

Ok cut to the chase. There was a 5ft long wolf eel out on the point this morning.

The rest of the dive was fantastic too. Great vis and great buddies. Lots of nudibranchs to be seen including stearns, san diego, black dorids, big mating iris', shawls, Janolus. No real surge or current. BONE CHILLING COLD. All 6 computers say 47 at depth. No thermocline. Water temp didnt break 50 till 10ft. Poor wet Matt was freezing.

Fantastic dive. Thanks everyone. Thanks to Kim for the coffee. I needed it.

Terry

So excellent, Terry.

I've never seen a Wolf Eel. What an experience.

Look at Josh - assuming the position. I'd bust his stones on it, except I know that at 47, his hands are there because he can't feel them. For all he knows, his hands could be back at 70 feet under a rock someplace. By this time they're just blocky stumps with gloves, and he's just trying to get through the dive... ;)

Great eel shots. Just great!

Well done Terry!!!

Wolf eels are so homely they're cute! Well, I think so anyway...

Nice closeup of the eel Terry. Yea I haven't seen one of those things either.

I dived Marineland on Monday and it was c-c-c-old. On Thursday night as I was gearing up for Vet's I noticed my new strobe had flooded. The rusty water coming from the battery campartment was a dead giveaway. I rinsed it with fresh water and used a lot of electrical contact cleaner, managing to get it to work again. The batteries were fried so I bought new rechargeables yesterday and plugged them in. Naturally, I forgot them this morning! I used alkaline batteries instead, which seemed to give one or two flashes before giving me black images. I managed to get a few, but one of these days I'll actually come home with a card full of wonderful pics and have to choose which ones to share.
The water was a brisk 49F at the point and 53F in the shallows, which felt tropical to me. There was very little surf, but the vis was about eight feet at depth with twelve feet in the shallows. Cuthona divae nudis were everywhere.
