Mine arrived a couple of days ago and the craftsmanship is really outstanding. Like others, I'm working on my harness setup. I'm seriously thinking about trying it without a crotch strap, especially for warm water. I think it'll work if I can get a nice form fit. My main issue is going to be my tanks. I have the Faber HP 100's, and I think I'm going to be at the limit of my 20lb wing with just a 2mm or freediving skin.

Its buried at the beginings of this thread so I want repost Jim's pic of his FP with red webbing and the Hog wing. I always thought it looked sharp and even though I have a pure black Oxychecq wing I have red webbing waiting for when I need to redo the original harness.

Get it all together then throw it in a pool with a full 100 and see if it will float. If it floats in fresh then you know it will float in salt. If it doesn't float then you'll need to determine if your suit will make up the extra needed buoyancy, and you'll also need to decide at the same time how important it is for your rig to float without you in it. Some people don't care, for others it's critical.
FWIW, the plate weighs 4 lbs. and some change.

That was the skinny back strap with the flare at the top and big flare at the bottom. The retro model of the very first plate ever made but contoured.
They look slightly different now but the general concept of the contoured shape is still there.

Man! I wish Hog made a skinnier wing! They are really nicely made wings and the slots line up so well with the FP.
They're just so damn wide.

Have you seen the Argonaut Dive (Bryan's from VDH) 18# wing?

Stainless is hugely ductile. With a set of mating forming dies, (I'd estimate the cost around 10K~15K maybe more if you don't get it right on the first try) and a ~100 ton press these plates could formed in a single hit.

Cut it out (laser or AWJ)

Deburr

Form (In the giant squeeze 'O' matic)

Polish

The starting point would be digitizing an example and processing that info into a 3D surface for a CAM program.

When do we start? :)

I had noticed the difference in the photos and was wondering why the change.

Eric has the Hog 32 and 23. Even the 23 doesn't have the sleek profile as my Oxycheq 30

I had it loaded in the shopping cart when Bryan first posted it. Just could not justify pulling the trigger. Would love to see one paired with a FP.
