@Francesea

WOW! That finish took hours after working it into shape!! (love to know how many hours at the wheel...)

I am using SS fill rod, flap sander, gray compound to cut, and yellow compound to color my FP. I have an old unfinished one that I love. Works just fine as is, but she will shine again!

I'm guessing Eric goes even further with polishing than I do. Love to know your final compound, @Eric Sedletzky ....
I did appreciate the artistic beauty of this plate, as this still life will show: that Apple has a mirror reflection.

@Francesea

OK, now you're just showing off... or intentionally trying to make the rest of us feel bad. :(

Seriously, I'm sure that you and the next several generations will enjoy your new plate. You might want to share ideas with @uncfnp. She got pretty creative with the harness material.

I do need advice on harness next thanks for the tip! After I get my hog harness, and see how it sized up with the Freedom plate, then work out a harness system that can be adjusted from no exposure suit through wetsuit to drysuit. @uncfnp have any links to your harness setups?

If you guys needs some pics on how to lace up a one piece harness on the FP I can shoot you some pics. I might already have done so? It's easy.
My personal preference is just to put a keeper in the back between the slots and set it so it's fixed. You can mark or measure a way to adjust it where it needs to be with different suits, and after a while you'll pretty much know where it needs to be with each suit.
It can be made to slide, but my experience is that the webbing will wear in that spot and start to fray. Some people don't really care about that since webbing is cheap and they don't mind replacing it every once in a while.
Akimbo had a really great idea (that I've used before) for an adjustment roller. Cut a 2" piece of 1/2" grey plastic electrical PVC and slice it through lengthwise on one side with a hacksaw. Then spread it apart with a flat screwdriver and stuff a 2" D-ring in it and use that as a strap roller on the back side of the lower webbing slots. It's a cheap and easy way to make a "glide" cinch system

That would be the 17" XL size (special order), but I can do it.
You *might* be able to use a large 16".
It depends if you are all legs or all torso?

@rhwestfall, I don't know where you are, but I got a Large and you're welcome to try it.

After all the hammering and shaping on a special anvil, I slide a 120 flap disc over hammer marks and other stuff I find. Then it gets red conditioning disc. Then it gets DA sanded with 240 and again with 600. Then it gets polished with a hard resin impregnated airway wheel with a black emory bar, and maybe a sewn cotton buff with a green bar. This stuff is used primarily in the wheel and tank polishing business on big rigs. I learned some good techniques also from marine stainless craftsmen doing railings, stanchions, fittings, etc. all of which are highly polished for yachts.
