WOW what a good book.. I'm about 1/2 way finished.
The more I read this book the more I realize how little I know about
diving ...........

Makes me want to lean and take more classes :)

If you like the story, but want to see it from a different POV (more about the u-869 and its identification than about the Rouses (although there is a chapter on them)) try "Shadow Divers". Its written better (IMHO). But you are correct. The Last Dive is a good read

Shadow Divers was an excellent book. I read it in a day!

I like The Last Dive for different reasons, though. I think it provides a lot more perspective on the psyche of the tech diver. And it was written by a diver. It's definitely a much better 1st hand account of diving.

I enjoyed Shadow Divers while on my honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, both my wife and I finished it before we got back! I just started reading The Last Dive a few days ago. Though only in the opening few chapters, I like the writing style better so far. Both books are excellent reads and have a permanant place on my diving bookshelf.

BTW, I read that they are going to be making a movie out of Shadow Divers...now there is a movie FINALLY worth the $8+ to get into a theatre.

Lets hope they do better with making shadow divers into a movie than they have with every stephen king book (exception of the Green Mile)

Always seems the movies are a bit of a letdown....
