I bought The Jacques Cousteau Odyssey - The Complete Series on DVD from Sam's Club a couple of weeks ago. It is awesome! My favorite DVD is the Atlantis parts one and two. Does anyone else have it yet? I love looking at the vintage gear setups and wetsuits.

Yeah, I've been meaning to start a thread about it.

Some of of my favorite parts are the teaching the guys about masks in the Nile disk, the exploration of the Britianic (sister ship of the Titanic, used as a hospital ship in WW1 and sank).

Also he has about the ideal dive ride IMO, that converted WW2 pby plane where he can fly in and dive right from the side of the plane.

It's worth it, IMO.

Another DVD set, “Jacques Cousteau: Pacific Explorations,” is being released on is July 26.

Thanks Rick, you just cost me $50.90 with express shipping so I can have it here before I leave for the next boring conference.

That also one of my favorite (the Brittanic dive) just seeing Jacques jumping in the water with his red tuque, double hose regulator, triple tank and no BC for a 350ft dive that pretty crazy ****, At least he used Trimix.

.

Unfortunately his son Philippe died in that PBY flying into the river by Lisbon. He hit a sandbar and the plane flipped. He drownded (I believe while trying to rescue someone inside). I was with his brother Jean-Michel here on Catalina the day that happened.

That's sad, and perhaps foretold when he crashed during the Easter Island shot while piloting that ultralight aircraft there.

I recall the Calypso (the ship) sank over near Singapore a few years back.
