Hey, I'll help out if need be. I've also talked to my old boss previously about some underwater mapping techniques using Surveying equipment, and if you can get your hands on it, it would be tons more accurate than GPS mapping it.
I don't have the expertise in this area that many of the posters to this thread do, but I'll be happy to help out where you need me when the time comes. I don't know if I'll have any "out of the box" ideas, but I can follow directions and have some tech training and diving under my belt.

Mike wasn't my boss, I just hang out at his shop at AAS. My boss is a diver from way back when and owns his own surveying company in Liberty Hill. I was definitely at Dog Days. I can't really recall too much from that weekend, other than trying on a Drysuit and meeting a bunch of people. And I really can't tell your face in your avatar...
But yeah, he was willing (might still be) to use some his equipment to do some mapping of some of the parks. Triangulation with two known points could give us near exact GPS coordinates (within a dimes head, and taking into account drift on the bag held with 170' of line). But, at the same time, this really is not needed other than to find the entrance point on the shore, since underwater GPS is still years off. On that note, I'm going to stop ending my sentences in prepositions, and get some sleep. Everyone have a good night!
