There are only two places to carry a spare air. In your flight suit or on your tool belt. Spare air is a great invention. While a pony bottle and spare reg might be a better value, such a set up is simply too big to be practical for helicopter pilots or bridge workers.

Not to be a smart ass but my spare air is a Apex TX250 and 19cu in Pony attached to my HP100, I do enough diving in cold water with new people that I want an airsource that I can separate from myself if necessary. The spare air at 80" in cold water would not last long.

David Gallo once bubbled...
I did run short on o2 during a dive recently....

I hope you were not actually breathing O2...

Are you even certified?

Spare Air is a complete piece of junk...I would seriously try to get rid of it if I were you. Throw it in the trash.

You do not need such devices if you are diving properly in the first place.

Way to go.. I think you all scared him away... I think we could have welcomed the new guy a bit better than that. Try to remember we all were some what like him at one point of time.

WOW, yall have so much on the ball! I just today learned about the thread re-views. Now I see what you all have been sayin' in responnes to my simple questions. (I haven't checked this thread in a really long while)I had no idea that all my words would be tossed around in this manner. I was just looking for a simple answer to a simple question.(Spare air,Spare Death..call it what you will) To be clear I do have an AOW cert. (which aint much I admit, but its all I have to offer at this time) Yes, I am somewhat new. My air consumption is reall good, considering that I am a larger male person. I do not try to be more full of my self than I am. I look at all dive education as a new beginning. Yes, I did purchase a SpareAire. I Do know that many folks think it is a "death tank"..But I have been on dive boats that I was the only one without. Thats why I grabbed one..And Yes, I did run short on air during a recent dive. I assure you that if you were there with us you would have had some simmilar issues . The surface conditions were tough and all divers on the trip found it quite a challenge . As to my use of "O2" as a description of my breathing gas, again I apoligise. I was breathing air. (o2 description was just shorthand) I do have a VERY basic understanding of O2 vs Air. (as well as nitrox and trimix, again just in therory and only from reading) I have read some basic texts and I feel that I do have an understanding of the way these gasses and mixed\gassed do affect us above and below the surface..BUT, I ASK, WHY NOT GIVE A NEW DIVER A BREAK? To be honest I feel a bit un-welcome here..perhaps thats the way you want it? I have beeen only diving a short time but I can tell you that a few of those dives have been hard by many peoples standards.I want to continue my dives and education..But perhaps I should just move on...why not be a mench and help a brother out.....

David, welcome to the board. I am fairly new around here myself.

P.S. Many of the people on ScubaBoard have forgotten what it was like to be a new to diving and come across as harsh. For the most part though they mean well and you can learn a ton from them for free! Don’t let them discourage you, keep asking questions.
MikeS has a fine point here. Sometimes it can be easy to forget what it's like to be the new guy in town. There are many well respected and established divers here on this board that you can learn a great deal from. Please don't take their responses as a personal attack. Sometimes, the way you word your query will greatly affect the responses given. It will take a while to get the nomenclature of the board down, but hang in there. I'm sure that nobody here is deliberately trying to make you feel unwelcome.

As far as the Spare Air goes, I don't have any experience with them but here is a link to Leisure Pro. (LP) They have a few different mounting options to consider. :D

Again David, welcome, please stay a while  Leisure Pro (LP)

Thanks for all the thoughts and insite. I am am in debt to a few folks who threw me a break this past week. DSGobie, Awap, Score, MIke, "and all the rest" to quote Gilligans Island. (it was a great show...love the little white hat)! I Thank yall for being kind to a new diver and I look foreward to learin' a few new things in the future.best, DG
