The reason is fraud - if they don't have the physical card and your physical signature, and someone STOLE the card, they EAT the charge. No ifs, ands or buts.

As such they are extremely careful about such things.

I understand your frustration, but I also understand their perspective - getting ripped off, and lots of people try, sucks!

However, you *can* call your credit card company and ask them to put a second, authorized ship-to address on their list.

Only have had positive experiences with LP. BUT I do phone in my orders, get a name, and talk things out. They even gave me suggestions on sizing a few times and were right on target. Great experinec for me- better than LDS.
 
I have lived overseas with APO/FPO addresses. I have found there a few (but not many) companies who will not ship to them at all. However, I have found that there are many companies who place a value limit on the items they will ship to an APO/FPO address. So could be the "odds and ends" were no problem to a PO, but the more expensive BCD had to be to a physical address.
 
Sorry you had a bad experience. I just returned something to LP on Saturday (it was defective) and just received an email that they shipped the replacement out today - and sent it 3 day (hope I'm not having to pay extra for that...).

I've ordered all my stuff through LP via the net - however, I only purchase "odds and ends" - my main equipment I buy at my LDS - just to make sure I have someone I can rely on to stand behind it in the event of a problem.

If it makes you feel better - I spent a week making phone calls to track down a piece of furniture I had purchased through a catalog - seems the shipping company couldn't find my street and didn't think to call the phone number printed on the label...sometimes the lights are on but no one's home... ;)

They shipped the items a day late after they had assured me that they would be shipped on time, monday sept 7.

Adam - are sure it wasn't just a misunderstanding on your part? September 7 was a Sunday. Monday was September 8. And I don't believe UPS picks up on Sunday. ;)

Nope, no misunderstanding. I talked to them sunday and placed my order via the web on the same day with the understanding that it would go out first thing monday...instead it went out tuesday, which I wasn't upset about. But it seems as if though all is well and it should be delivered tommorow.
