We stayed at Wyndham Hotel Cozumel and dove with Daniel and Sea Life Cozumel. You may remember Daniel as a Divemaster at Scuba Club.
Definitely a different vibe at Hotel Cozumel, but it worked out fine for our large group - 30 plus divers the first week and up to 16 the second week. The big difference for me was the size of the rooms. At Scuba Club I usually had room 14 when there was 3 of us sharing a room. The first week at Hotel Cozumel 3 of us shared a room, and it was very tight.
Daniel was great at arranging the two boats, crews, and other divemasters. Nestor from Scuba Club was a divemaster during the second week. There were always snacks or sandwiches on the boats for the surface interval. I also liked that you were given a water bottle, that you could refill from a large water cooler, instead of the one and done plastic water bottles.
I was not impressed with the on site dive op - Dive Paradise. You had to rent a tank for a shore dive, unlike Scuba Club where you could just sign out a tank. I rented a tank for a shore dive, but had to cancel after taking a bad fall on slippery wet concrete (missed 3 1/2 days of diving and still recovering) and they would not refund what I paid for the tank. They could have easily rented it to another diver.
Overall I think the group was satisfied with Hotel Cozumel and we can't say enough good things about Daniel and Sea Life Cozumel. We have already booked again for next year !!
