Hi...

Hoping someone can help... i was diving today and normally i jump in the water and my D6 goes straight to DiveAIR mode... i noticed that it was in DiveGAUGE mode so tried fiddling with it underwater to change it but gave up... figuring i would fix it this evening... no luck... it seems i can now only select DiveGAUGE or DiveOFF... DiveAIR and DiveEAN have disappeared... slightly worried as I am in the middle of my IDC and need my computer to be working properly!! Eeeeek... HELP!

Ive checked the manual and cannot seem to find anything to instruct me how to fix this!

All dive computers once it's been dove on in gauge mode requires 24 hours to reset to the normal dive modes. If you really want to use the computer in normal, leave it out o water for a bit. Since you are in the idc though, you might as well use the erdpml and plan that way. Gives you good practice for hen you start teaching.

You can't change the set up once you're in the water. If you dive it in gauge mode, you have to wait 24/48 hours (can't remember which) before you can change it back to air/ean mode.

This is because it doesn't track gas loading in gauge mode, so the computer wants you to off gas so that you & the computer can start with a clean slate in regard to your N2 load.

As the other guys have said, there is a 24 hour hour 'lock-out' once you have immersed the D6 in guage mode.

For the OP.....read the manual.

It worries me when people don't fully understand their dive computers. I've seen more than a few minor incidents, where divers didn't understand what their computer was telling them because they hadn't read and understood the manual. Especially emergency deco situations.

Thanks for all your input... i felt like a right numpty when my CD explained it to me! I had never changed my computer out of DiveAir before now... what happened was that i had passed it around class during a knowledge development session, where people had obviously explored it and I did not checked its mode before i jumped in the water... I will not make that mistake again!

Ive since used it for Nitrox diving as well... such a nifty little device!
