Did a almost two hour dive tonight: beautiful conditions. Spotted lots of neat things: sea robins, flying gurnards, nudis, sea horse, shrimp galore, many octopi, tons of lobster, etc. etc.

most of my photos did not turn out very well (I don't have a focus light and was trying to use my LED flashlight as one while juggling the camera and flag lanyard) here's a couple of fun shots of a small octopus in a bottle

This is not such a great shot, but I am wondering if anybody knows what it is. Sort of reminded me of a flounder, but it seems to be too skinny and long. It is not a lizard fish (or at least I don't think it is) given it was very thin and seemed to have cilia-like appendages/fins on its sides

Looks like a Tonguefish-great find

Aww. I feel so sad for you. You guys just *keep* rubbing my nose into the baby octopuses. *Great* shots! And now I have to go research "tonguefish". Jeesh. . .

We didn't do the night dive on Friday. Instead we went to the Artificial Reef fundraiser sponsored by ForceE

We had a nice time and the food was good!

From the looks of things, we should have a contest for the best octopus shot from those taken during the month of March (Sorry Mntlblok, it appears you won't be in the contest this month) ;)

But, seriously, you need to learn some of the best underwater photography [-]excuses[/-] uh, reasons for not getting the shots...

The lens reason (also known as the change of subject excuse):
I was working with a lens that wasn't condusive to getting a good shot, but l did get this shot! (place shot x here... oh, and it doesn't even need to be a shot that was in the water or even a shot from BHB. It just needs to be a decent shot of something :) )

The strobe reason (The battery excuse):
I put the batteries into my strobes wrong and couldn't get the darned things to work the entire dive.

The Area reason:
I was working on some subjects I have seen before and spotted again this dive. I never got over to the area with (name of animal here)

These are a good start for finding some that work for you :)

The Friday night dive was great. Thanks to both Force E and Deep 6 for pulling permits for the dive.
Water was relatively warm (my Sol said 74.9) and great viz! The moon was lovely from underwater. There were lots of critters and everyone seemed in the mood to really enjoy the dive.
Saw a few folks getting in their first night dive, congratulations!:D

It was nice meeting you there scubajim.

My got in her first night dive and boy did she love it!!

We are now on the way to becoming real "bridge dogs" with some great sightings last night -- seahorse, 3 stargazers, batfish, sea hares (several really big ones -- fist size -- rust colored with purple dots) half dozen yellow rays, and all the usual suspects, arrow crabs, coral shrimp, scorpionfish, sleeping parrotfish and blennies. Also lots of houndfish right on the surface.

Looking at the shots, we also saw the tongue fish!! We had a really good sighting of it near the end of the dive, with a clear view for at least two minutes. I thought it was a flounder because I did not know what else to think, but it looked just like the shots (with the fringe around) and it was not buried under the sand.

This place is just too cool!!

Good meeting you Guy and your wife too. Bet she will start bugging you for more night diving! You both sure seemed to be enjoying the experience Friday night.
Will see you 2 "trolls" again soon.
