Advanced Diver Mag had an article in issue 19 by someone who was a diver for the movie. I haven't read the article yet, but it's probably the next one I'll read.

I was part of the crew of the u/w unit on the movie. The movie was pretty much what we expected....too bad they didn't develop the tension between the characters more and make it more believable...but that's hollywood. They wanted a monster movie - not a diving movie, not a drama. IMO, not nearly enough u/w footage was used but I'm prejudiced in that regard. I'm glad I saw it for free (thanks again to the Priest Theatre in High Springs for their generosity!) but I will pay to go see it and take my nephew....heck, I'll get to point out my name in the credits to him and solidify my favorite aunt status! I'd pay to do that any day!

FIXXERVI6:
Yea the only thing that really got me was the dang talking under water, the split fins and exploding scooter, well if I wasn't a diver I wouldn't know any better, but the talking.. that was tough, but how could they have done the scenes without talking?

Subtitles??

I own several communication units for underwater work, and they work great. The rebreathers the movie was using were Innerspace Systems, Megalodon CCR. They do not have a com unit in their mouth piece, but not to many people would know that.

I have assisted Wes Skiles, and Karst productions (production team for the underwater footage of the move "The Cave" on a couple shoots. The com units are needed to communicate actors, lighting, surface support etc...

I like the part toward the end when they are dividing up the gear they have left to try to swim out through the underwater tunnel and the one guy turns to the other and says: "Here, you get the oxygen bottle with no regulator" the other guy: "Cool"

They said that? Oxygen?

must have been a pretty darn shallow cave.

The working title is 'Water Story". They wrapped up shooting yesterday.
