I just saw it, and enjoyed it. Yeah, it takes a pretty serious suspension of disbelief across, oh, let's see, diving, cave diving, climbing, equipment, temperature, science, team discipline, safety / accidents / injuries, etc...

But it was still fun to see a lot of great underwater scenes of a relatively technical nature.

I also liked how they linked to, er, that *other* set of scary stories without being explicit or heavy-handed about it.

Thumbs up! :)

I agree! I'll probably slap myself when you tell me, but what "other" set of stories?

Well I saw it last night......some nice underwater shots, (but very short and not enough in my opinion - but then again it was not a purely diving movie) ok "monsters" but the plot kinda sucks, ends too quickly and has a typical "get ready for the sequel" ending.

But ok, would give it 3 out of 5.

I'm PMing you so as not to post a spoiler.

It was a great comedy with perfected cheesy lines - "He was special forces man.... WTH happened to him!!!!"

If you were a consultant on this, you'd likely be screaming through the screening... "I didn't say that, I said the opposite of that!"

Or you'd be learning new things, like every diver needs a sword with them underwater or if you break the handle off your scooter, not only does it still work, but it crashes into flames! Oh man, if I only knew...

I just hate it when that happens to my scooter! :D

the cinematography looks awesome (yeah, it's wes skiles) but i wouldn't pay
half a used hotdog bun without condiments to see this crap

I'm waiting for The blue to be released....

Its a movie kids, face it, they ARE going to take some liberties no matter how much the consultants say DONT!!!! Good movie if you take it as a MOVIE and not as a diving BIBLE. I liked it!!!

Bloody hell, there's a diving bible? Where can I get the travel version, ebay?

KangarooSeatbelt:
Sooooo. Now that it's out I just wanted to hear what everyone thought of the movie, any irregularities or mistakes you might have caught, etc.

I saw this movie last Wednesday, during a preview viewing.

I'm sure glad I got to see it for free, because I never would have paid to see this the hot steaming pile of .... well .... ok, it wasn't THAT bad I suppose. If someone hadn't compared it to Alien, my expectations might have been lower and I probably would have enjoyed the movie much more.

Essentially, the movie was just too much like Pitch Black 2 ... heck, one of the actors (Cole Hauser) and the guy who designed the creatures were both from Pitch Black. I think Hollywood has really ran out of good ideas, especially for this genre of movie.

Disappointing is the best way to describe my thoughts on the movie. I want my 105 minutes back.
