Excuse me, but this sounds extremely rude and inconsiderate to abuse equipment that is not even yours. If you had permission to mess around with the equipment from the owner, OK. But if not, to get "mad" and "forced the next larger size wrench into the brass hole" is criminal. I hope they threw you off the boat to the awaiting police. You admitted that it was your own mistake ("we forgot to notice the club that we have DIN regulators") and to get mad and damage other's equipment was childish and criminal behavior! Nothing to brag about and certainly something that would be wiser to keep to yourself

Relax, I did this after the tank owner (and DM on boat) tried the same thing, but failed because (I guess from the stuff he was smoking - btw, shocking to see divers - and specially the guide - smoking pot before diving, never saw it before in any other place, but saw it there on every boat) he was tightening the nut instead of unscrewing it.

When I got to try for myself, the nut was already destroyed by all his attempts (he even tried to use the smaller size wrench, and fill the space around with pieces from a cutter blade, which scattered into pieces when he tried). I had to appreciate how customer-oriented he was to make us happy, even if we didn't complained about the situation.

I admit it was probably our mistake to not tell them about DIN, but they also didn't asked (and I think they see more cases like us, we cannot just be the first with DIN regulators that arrived there). In our excuse - I never saw a YOKE-only valve until now. Ever. All valves that I have seen until now in 15 years of diving were either DIN or DIN/YOKE with inserts.

It would have been nicer from your part to first ask before dropping to such harsh conclusions.
