We just returned from another Coz trip. Here is an album with photos and videos. I am not the best photographer but some are decent. I was using TG-5, PT-058, Backscatter M52 wide angle wet lens, and two Sea & Sea YS-01 strobes. I am thinking of upgrading to the EPL-10 to get a larger image sensor as these don't seem to have the richness that you see from some other photos. Of course, that could be my caveman skills also.

Anyone have experience going from TG to EPL 9 or 10? I am not a real technically knowledgeable photographer, and I do like knowing that if my housing floods the camera will most likely be ok. Not the case with the EPL cameras.

I think you have quite a few nice images there, a few where the strobe aim may be a little off. While the TG cameras are great for macro, many people will tell you they are just so so for wide angle/middle distance shooting. I personally have had ok results at 3-5 feet. If you're really new to photography you might want to stick with TG till you've mastered it's range, and then take a bigger step up.

I switched to the epl10/aoi housing
happy with my choice
look at some of my trip reports to see a few pictures from this setup

Just returned from another trip to Cozumel. We have never gone in early spring, so different experience this time. Much fewer Eagle Rays, no sharks, and some ripping currents. Here are a few shots. TG-5, two YS-01 strobes, some with Backscatter M52 wide angle and some with just housing and microscope mode

My wife, The Snorkeler, wanted a camera she could use when snorkeling, especially on our then upcoming Curaçao trip. She got a TG6 and has used it now for 2 trips. We went through her photos tonight and picked out the ones she wanted to post on here. Keep in mind that these are either from the surface, or while swimming down to her subject, so there are a lot of tops of fish. Also, no housing and all natural light. The great thing is, taking these photos, as well as seeing many of yours, has her thinking of getting certified so she can get the kind of photos that she has seen in this thread.
This first set is from Curaçao. They were taken in the sand flats/coral rubble at Marazul and Playa Kalki. By the way, she didn't include the one that had the spotted moray that she didn't realize was there until she loaded them on the computer, lol.

This next batch is from a recent trip to Bermuda. The first four were taken while snorkeling in front of our rental. We had a tropical storm coming in, so thing were a bit stirred up.
The second set of four were taken at North Rock, about seven miles off shore. The storm had come through two days earlier. Things had calmed down some, but we had some good size swells that she had to contend with while trying to focus.

It is unusual for a snorkeller to get a camera and decide to get qualified, the normal route is becoming a diver and then wanting a camera.
She has done very well in snorkelling and should be very good as a diver/photographer.

She has always been into photography, and good at it, but just topside. She snorkels, but not on a regular basis, and always in warm water. After years of me showing here underwater photos from here and other sources, she decided to try her hand at it. Now that she has a point of reference to what aspects she is limited to by snorkeling, she is thinking that diving might be worth it.
The other thing that happened is that focusing on taking the photos made her a more relaxed snorkeler. This, in turn, built her confidence and made diving seem more "doable".

And trust me, you'll never be out of ideas on what to get her for Christmas. I think I'm 10 years in with my wife doing underwater photography and there is always a strobe, a video light, a new housing, frame, arm, connector ... lol :) Thanks for sharing

She will make a good UW photographer. The problem with most of us, is we don't have that creative edge that good photographers do, so I end up taking well-focused (mostly), interesting things (mostly) and well done ID's of the said item.
