1st all the weekends are booked, so it would have to be a weekday charter. They run until mid-October.

2nd it's $940 for a 2-tank dive & $1150 for a 3-tank dive

3rd the boat holds up to 12 people. (Grab your calculators)

4th tank rentals are $8, they don't have a compressor on board. (No NITROX)

5th they can get us a local DM @ no charge.

6th their insurance covers the boat occupants, but we're on our own in the water. (Got DAN? Just in case the DM doesn't have dive group insurance)

7th I've been trying to contact the shop that's doing the Sept 8 trip, but keep getting a 'you must now dial the area code when making a local call' message. It's Ocean Windows out of San Antonio - I tried the local shop in case they're affiliated, but had to leave a message on their machine.

Weekday trips are definitely out for us. I've got just enough vacation left for the trip to Key West after Thanksgiving. I can't skip out on that, since we're on contract for the festival.

Might be something to look at in the future, though.

I'm keeping an eye out for shops with openings.

Whoa! What happened to the prices that Tom was mentioning??? Be cheeper to do the Flower Gardens again.

Same with Corsair for me on weekends only for a while. Still too much chaos here at the salvage yard for me to take off during several weekdays.

The prices are for the boat, not each. 10 divers = $94 or $115 each.

I did get the correct phone # from our local Oceans Window (said we have to book thru the San Antonio shop). I called, but the guy who handles the trips was busy. I'm waiting to hear back from them.

Weekends are better for me, too. Just figured I'd list all our options.

I'll post when he calls.

PS. Corsair, 'Bummer' aint acceptable dive terminology, unless, of course, when it means we just gotta find a different dive plan.

Bummer= unexpected dive plan change.

Got it.

I'm still working on this dive lingo thing.

I suppose Groovy is right out?

Ok so now I''m confused.....

The Sept 8th trip is booked???? or Oceans window has scheduled that date and they are holding it for them?

I believe Michael was referring to me as being the instigator. Weekday trips are no problem here. I have plenty of vacation/comp time.

I guess we could save a few bucks and book direct. I'm not picky that way. I don't mind paying the slight premium for booking thru the shop though.

Thanks Texass for picking it up. I would have been alot slower in getting answers.

Tom

The various Dive shops have already reserved the boats for all the weekends. Now we have to find out if they've already filled their slots or not. (She said he'd call even tho it's long distance, sure he will. Meanwhile they're not answering the phone! Hmmm holiday week, maybe I'm not the only one who wants to go diving)

BTW did everyone get the pics? And who's beanie & gloves did I end up with?

If there are any for the Sept. 8th, I'm up for it. August and October are both pretty free, with the exception of the weekend of August 11 & 12 (anniversary) Other than that, I'm game for just about any time!

Oceans Window has stores in the Dallas area, Austin, and San Antonio. Their website is http://www.oceanswindow.com if you are looking for trip info.

If you are looking for good rig diving, the rigs off of South Padre Island are significantly better. The vis is much better, and the animal life is larger and more abundent. So Padre is further south than Port Aransas, but the diving is enough better that it justifies the added time, and cost.

They're booked thru July & most of August.

First available date is 8/26 w/ 10 open spots. Next is 9/8 w/ 9 open spots. Next is 9/23 w/10 open spots.

$145 for 3-tank on Saturdays. $15/tank for Nitrox. Pay w/ credit card over the phone. They provide drinks & food. Meet at the boat @ 6:30 AM - they'll send maps & info once we pay.

Just say when!
