Solve the root cause. Heated vest. (Stop the turtle. )

Title pretty much sums it up. I cannot keep the catheter in place.

I can put the catheter on no problem, wide-band or otherwise, extra adhesive or not, and after a couple hours, size up or size down, adhesive in the cup, adhesive all along the shaft, primer or no primer, alcohol prep or none. Goes on every time.

However, once the catheter is rolled on its only a matter of time before my buddy goes full turtle and eventually rolls himself right out of the catheter.

Anyone have similar issues and how did you solve them?

Thanks for your input.

Your buddy going full turtle is a sign that your core body temperature is low and your body is beginning to protect vital organs and preserve warmth.

You do multi-hour cold water dives and you clearly have a high cold tolerance. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that your body is warm throughout the dive. After a while your core temperature drops.

You seem to have the application technique down there sorted. So I don’t think that’s the issue.

My suggestion would be that you improve your body’s insulation, particularly around your head, neck and core torso (including your chimp) and see if that at least delays your buddy starting to go turtle. Not so much that you are too warm and begin to sweat, which would be counterproductive, but enough that you feel toasty throughout your lengthy dive and particularly towards the end.

I get the turtle with 1 hr dives in 72F Florida springs. I don’t think it’s necessarily caused by cold. Cool-ish water over an hour is enough.
