Traveling to Florida in March 2014 for family vacation. A little complicated.....so looking for input from fellow scuba board members. I am advanced open water, 75+ dives. Our sons are 15 and have asked to get certified (never pushed it on them, thought it best to wait until they asked.)

Here are the criteria:

1) Have to get one son to St Pete's beach at end of trip for Lacrosse camp. Any destinations in Tampa area?
2) My wife is coming so destination needs to appeal to her (can't be isolated. She likes restaurants, museums & things to do.)
3) Need access to private instruction from a really good dive shop that it is service/customer oriented. I understand I will have to pay a bit more for this and am o.k. with that.
4) Would really like to stay at a nice resort either on beach (Gulf or Atlantic is fine)
5) I would like to do a dive or 2 myself, but not mandatory.
6) A day of fishing would be great too, but not a deal breaker.

At the end of the day I realise I am not going to get all of my criteria filled. I would love feedback as to where you might go if you were taking a vacation in March, teens getting certified and have to end trip in St Pete. Miami? Key West? Palm Beach? Tampa area?

Any thoughts on Clearwater? Would that be a good area for the kids to get certified? Found a nice resort there (Sand Pearl).
