As I said before, BP/W isn't for everyone and definetely the great majority of divers use BCDs, but it doesn't means that it's best overall, I don't criticize anyone using a BCD, it's their choice, but every dive trip that I go and other divers see my BP/W, they ask about it and realize that they didn't knew about that system and allways want to learn about it, and if it's confy.

Still would like to hear about your complains about the system.

First off i've never used bp/w and in fact am only getting the first of my cert dives this weekend. Perty excited. And my point isn't that i feel like bp/w is a lesser solution than anyhing because as you can see i'm an absolute newb. My point is that bp/w advocates on this board tend to give the impression that bp/w is the BEST solution to diving. I just know in a sport like diving there are many many different people doing it and there IS NO RIGHT answer. I guess i didn't mean to flame but it does really get under my skin that because most bp/w users dive alot and get into tech stuff that they claim their preferences are the correct ones. Like Humu said the very name Do It Right claims it is the correct choice for equipment and that same spirit seems strong in the bp/w community on this board (at least the extremely vocal ones).

All i ever wanted people to keep in mind is that bp/w isn't THE answer to scuba equipment but is just one answer for (what proves in reality to be) an extreme minority of people who dive.

Hey Monkey Knife-fight,

A lot of us push the bp/w setup as we've been converted ourselves. We dove bc's, all different types, and have found the bp/w to have many advantages. I would have been scared to try it from day one, but I bought it with about 50 dives under my belt. I have another 50 or so now with this setup, and am happier then a pig in s$%&.

Having a setup that will grow with you, fits perfectly everytime you dive, can and will suit your needs, regardless of how and where you dive, seems to make a lot of sense. The only way to know is to do the research and try what you can when the opportunity arrises.

Oh, and as for the percentage of people diving bp/wing, the numbers are increasing rapidly from what I've seen in the last few years. Recreational shops are starting to carry them, OW divers are starting to dive them... Good luck with your decision.

I like BP&W's. Enough that I make em. But I would never say they are the universal answer.

They can be a little intimidating looking. They can be hard to borrow, rent, or try out.

There are many retailers who don't know or don't care, or consider BP&W strange tech gear that "their" customers don't want, won't buy, can't use. This reduces the opportunities for most to try one out.

All I can do is echo others here that have said "try it"

The vast majority that try it like it, not all, but most, so why not try it if you get the chance?

Seriously, thanks NWGratefulDiver for one of the more even-keel responses from the BP/W crowd.

As far as evad's response, can't you guys see why that sort of response, coupled with the name "Do It Right" itself, lends an attitude of smug superiority to what you say that a lot of people will always find really...irritating...regardless of the value of your opinions ??

Basically, I just don't understand why some BP/W/DIR folks can't accept that some people really like BCs and find them to be a great dive rig. Why do you have to point out that those people are "wrong" in order for you to feel good about the choices that you have made for yourself?

No flame war desired...it just confuses me, because I don't see any of the old salts who have been diving BCs for 20 years shoving their ideas down anyone's throats.

I kinda skipped to the end when people got stupid so I mighta missed the answer to this, but don't most zeagle BC's have the advantages of modular components and a removable air bladder with the twin tank options like a bp/w would, as well as having any advantages of a regular back inflate bc? I think they have the right track with their stuff, unfortunately so do many others, so it tends to be some of the most expensive.
