Actually, it is VERY readable - better display than my Perdix

I don’t doubt that...have you ever used a Predator?

FWIW, I've never heard anybody claim that the Petrel had a better screen than the Predator.

I’m too lazy to look back that far and provide a reference, but it was a talking point when the petrel first hit the market...it was quickly abandoned.

No - but I’ve seen one on a friend. It’s a nice screen, but is older OLED tech vs the AMOLED tech in the Teric. The Teric is also a higher resolution display: 400 x 400 in a 1.39” display versus the Predator’s 320 x 240 in a 2.4” display.

Google is easy...

The Petrel display is an LCD with LED backlight as opposed to the OLED display in the Predator. Size and resolution are the same. We find the display to be as readable as the Predator’s, and better in some conditions such as bright sunlight. The Predator OLED was discontinued 2 years ago and is not a viable option for a new product. We evaluated the OLED displays on the market, including those used in other dive computers, and choose the Petrel LCD as the best combination of readability and battery life when used in diving conditions.

Direct sunlight on the surface is the one condition where the Perdix is a little easier to read than the Teric (or any emissive display) - but it’s not a problem and, once submerged, the Teric is a much nicer display to me.

The Predator is AMOLED like the Teric. It is not the trash PMOLED like the Liquivision or the xDeep/Genz.

They are the same screen technology.

Shearwater confirmed that the Predator was AMOLED in another thread. However, I’m quite sure that AMOLED technology has progressed quite a bit since the Predator was manufactured, so the Teric screen is even better (and much higher resolution).

That doesn't mean it's a better looking screen. It's not all in the resolution. But if it's so important for you to be right, you do you buddy.

It’s not about being right or wrong, but I own a Teric and a Perdix AI and have seen a friend’s Predator - so I know the Teric is a nicer screen. You can check it out yourself if you ever have the opportunity and form your own opinion - but like most tech, OLED screen technology has advanced and gotten better over time!

You're missing the point, but that's ok. Enjoy your Teric! I've dived with both, so I am very much aware of the pros and cons of each. Simple increases in resolution and contrast are a very small metric by which to judge the "betterness" of a screen.

I'm not clear on what point I'm mising? Someone posted that the Predator screen "is generally regarded as the best looking of all of the Shearwater screens." I merely pointed out that with the introduciton of the Teric that this is no longer true. The Teric is using a higher resolution AMOLED screeen and is launching 9 years after the Predator - I'm pretty confident that display tech has progressed those 9 years, no? When looking at a display like this, resolution, brightness, color and contrast are the main drivers of how it looks. The Teric is quite a bit higher resolution than the Predator and it shows. The other big difference is the off angle viewing - the Teric is outstanding in this respect. However, I find my Perdix AI not quite as good (it's not bad - just not as good) - partly because of the LCD screen tech viewing angle is limited and partly because the actual display is sitting behind a pretty thick plastic (polycarbonate?) screen cover that seems much more prone to reflections and contrast reduction. The Predator uses this same thick plastic screen cover, so is affected in a similar way.

Note that I'm NOT saying that the Predator is a bad screen (and it is better than the Perdix AI, except in direct sunlight) - just that the Teric is even better. I'm also not commenting on the information presentation or layout - just the visual quality of the display itself.
