Spoon:
sorry bout the hijack. btw the prices of gasses and helium are cheaper in planet dive.
Haven't made it to PD yet, aren't they past the point where the road turns bad?

they are way way beyond the roads that turn bad. maybe 30-40 mins passed aquav at slow speed. what peeps usually do is park in anilao and take the boat or jeep to PD. if you dont want your ride to get beat up then its better to take the boat

This wasn't meant to be a thread about what I plan to do, just one about what AV has to offer now.

confused with this post when you posted this earlier -

"Yeah, already thinking that direction. $3/liter is better than I expected, which is why I wasn't taking that option seriously. I'll take $50 for a trimix dive to 250 ft any day of the week. It's going to cost a LOT more where I'm likely to be next."

You plan to go deep?

about planet dive, there's a small parking lot about 15min away from them that can be reached using proper roads. you can park there and they'll provide you with a jeepney ride the rest of the way. if your car can handle modest off-road driving, then you can drive right up to planet dive.

@Spoon: Once I get the Adv. Nitrox done, you feel up to doing Bahura with doubles?

@Caloy: I'm heading that way. A year and a half will most likely find me in a place that isn't close to tropical diving but will have wrecks/caves. I'd rather get the training and practice in here where it's comfortable and looks nice than somewhere cold, dark and dirty.

@Floater: At the moment I could probably handle the road but with rainy season right around the corner, there's no way my car could get out of a mud hole alone if it entered one. I'm going to have to see if I can find that parking lot next time I'm in the area.

it doesn't really look like a parking lot so it's hard (edit: i meant easy) to miss, but you can call planet dive to get instructions on where it is. when the road becomes bad you know you've missed it, just turn around, drive back until you see a flat bit of concrete on your left and park there. chances are the jeepney will be waiting nearby (if you've requested one) which is another tipoff that you are there.

I was talking with Bongski on Sunday and he showed me what they have available for tech equipment. He'd like as much notice (like a week) as possible for any requests. Naturally, all prices are subject to change.

Gas fills for doubles: 26-36%: 448 / fill
Doubles Tank rental: 500 / day

Deco gas: 50 / 75 / 100%: 280 / fill
Deco Tank: 150 / day

Regs for doubles: 450 / day

Helium: 3/liter

There was some question regarding the cost of the helium, namely, three WHAT? He said he'd try to find out.
I'm being charged $US 0.033/liter for Helium, and $0.015/liter for O2 on my South China Sea Wreck Expedition . . .hope that helps!
