just got this from Honolulu.JPG

Anything at all you can tell me- great. I am a clean slate here pretty much. I just got this from Honolulu via FleaBay. $85 with shipping.

compression ring doesnt fit.JPG

I think that is not the original compression ring because it's too small and doesn't look like the one from my G250. But it has a broken tab so maybe Scubapro did make it. LOL!!!!

That level of corrosion might not be a big deal- true? I do plan to take this to someone for service. They will throw it in an ultrasonic cleaner with some kind of acid-based solution to cook that off, right? Or totally wrong?

The corrosion looks a little worse from this angle.

OK I am limited to five files so let me attach the last one below...

not sure I can help with most of your questions, I have a gaggle of these regulators. It's what my LDS sold me when I first started diving and 30+ years later it's still my primary. I've bought the same one for my boys when they started (so all gear was the same). The corrosion looks good for a ultrasonic cleaning. The missing tab shouldn't be a big issue as the cover will hold it all together. I've rinsed but never replaced the valve on any of mine. I did pop the cover off two that I have near me and both are MUCH cleaner (deburred) than your pic. I can't remember seeing any in that condition. Good luck, it's a great reg. Some have older poppet - I always upgrade mine to the wing poppet when I pick up a used one.

Thank you for the reply!! Those poppets seem to be getting harder to find these days. I'm OK on the compression rings as I have a cousin who will 3d print some for me and I found this drawing for that:

I assume the same ring will work with my G250 and my G200B but we will see.

It's interesting to see all of the stuff tagged "Scubapro":

I can't get that link above to look right, but it works!

I really want to deburr that vent but what is between a 2mm and 2.5mm hex key and are you kidding me here?
Take the exhaust cover off don’t try to deburr it the hard way
On the 250 it’s a simple pin that holds it (you push it through to unhinge the T, haven’t seen that hex variant; but I assume you have to unscrew before you push it out)

That's an excellent find!

If memory serves right, the G200B was introduced in 1994. It is identical to the G200 with one important distinction: it changes the unbalanced poppet of the G200 to a balanced one, hence the "B" in the name.

This is somewhat analogous to how the C350 and C370 relate to each other.

The G200B uses a two-piece poppet, which isn't ideally shaped from a gas flow point of view. The poppet also lacks a wiper O-ring on the balance chamber end. This poppet should be inferior to a modern one-piece design, such as the S-wing poppet.

And here comes the interesting bit: the G200B is well capable of running the updated S-wing poppet, which was introduced around 1999 for several ScubaPro second stages. But which poppet you have in there is anyone's guess until they open it up.

I also enjoyed how this design utilized the plug that envelopes the balance chamber. It is the analogues to the micro-adjust, but it also means there's no diver-adjustable knob (something unneeded in my humble opinion anyway...). The plug allows for variable spring tension, meaning that ScubaPro was able to be less picky about spring quality, which was a major headache back then (and still is...)

I also liked the screws and physical clips instead of the modern bars and "click" connections. The screws should be imperial 3/32" hex key if I'm not mistaken.

That corrosion you have on there is virtually nothing. I'm genuinely surprised to see so little.

In short, this is a great second stage. It is very similar to the revered G250, minus the diver-adjustable knob. In fact, they share many of the parts, including the actual housing. It's a keeper that you should enjoy, especially when updated to the S-wing poppet.

Ohhhh of course it's standard- and yes the 3/32" fit like a glove!!!!!!! I only thought it was a lot of corrosion because the G250 that I got from a local source (with a MK10+ first stage) was pristine inside. So glad to hear it's not bad!!!!!!

Got both of those screws out and I am pushing down on the "thing" to get it out (and access the exhaust port/small diaphragm area) and my fingers taste like salt so I guess that's why it's stuck.

I'd heard a lot of good things about this G200B here on Scubaboard so I thought I would give this a shot when I saw it on eBay!!!
