I wanted to get in some wide angle practice before our annual God's Pocket trip. Merry and I headed to the waters off Long Beach to work on wolf eel and metridium photos. So much for making plans. The large propeller has been removed, there were no wolfies in sight and most of the metridiums were gone. The lack of photo subjects coupled with six feet of visibility made for a quick dive.

Do you think the wolf eels are hiding (maybe scared by propeller removal... wonder what happened there)? Or do you think they are actually gone? I've only been on that wreck twice but I thought the wolf eels lived there in the same spot permanently.

I looked inside (there is now a hole that you can see all the way through) and none of them were anywhere to be seen. Usually, the mating pair is in the space beneath the propeller and the small wolf eel is poking his head out from some of the holes on the deck. I made two loops around the wreck, looking underneath and in all the holes.

I hope they are somewhere safe if they had to move.
